On , the charismatic freedom fighter was born in 1907. As a revenge for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, Bhagat Singh and his associates plotted the assassination of James A. Scott, the Superintendent of Police, believed to have ordered the lathi charge on Rai. The revolutionaries mistook J.P. Saunders as Scott and killed him instead. In response to the formulation of Defence of India Act, Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt threw a bomb onto the corridors of the assembly, shouted 'Inquilab Zindabad!' and threw pamphlet outlining their missive into the air on April 8th 1929. The bomb was not meant to kill or injure anyone and therefore it was thrown away from the crowded place, but still several council members were injured in the commotion. Following the blasts both Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt courted arrest. On 7th October 1930, it was declared that irrefutable proof had been presented confirming the involvement of Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru in the Saunders murder. Singh admitted to the murder and made statements against the British rule during the trial. They were sentenced to be hanged till death. His eminence in current times is evident from the fact that Bhagat Singh was voted as the Greatest Indian, ahead of Subhas Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi, in a poll conducted by India Today in 2008. ଜଣେ ଭିନ୍ନ ଗୁରୁ ଓ ଶିଷ୍ୟଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ , ପଢାବହିରୁ ।

ଅତି ସୁକୁମାର ପିଲାଟି ଧିରେ କହଇ କଥା ,
କେବେହେଲେ କାହା ମନରେ ଥରେ ନ ଦିଏ ବ୍ୟଥା ।
ମିଥ୍ୟା ପ୍ରତି ସଦା ତାହାର ଥାଏ ମନରେ ଭୟ ,
ନିର୍ଭୟ ସେ ତେଣୁ ସବୁଠି ରଖେ ସତ୍ୟରେ ଲୟ ।
ଥରେ ତା ଜୀବନେ ଆସିଲା ମହା ସଙ୍କଟ ଏକ ,
ଡରି ନ ଯାଇ ସେ ରଖିଲା ନିଜ ବିବେକ ଟେକ ।
ଆସି ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟେ ସେଦିନ ପରିଦର୍ଶକ ଜଣେ ,
ପଚାରିଲେ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ଶ୍ରେଣୀରେ ଚାହିଁ ବାଳକ ଗଣେ ।

କାହୁଁ କିଏ ଆସି ଟିପିଲା ତାର ପାଦକୁ ଧିରେ।
ଚାହିଁଲା ଚମକି ପାଖରେ ଗୁରୁ ଦିଅନ୍ତି ଠାରି ,
ଭୁଲ ଶବ୍ଦଟିଏ ଲେଖି ତୁ ସବୁ ଦେଲୁରେ ସାରି ।
ପାଖ ବାଳକର ଲେଖାକୁ ତୁହି ଖଞ୍ଜରେ ଦେଖି ,
ଶୁଦ୍ଧ କରି ସେଇ ଶବ୍ଦଟି ଦିଅ ଚଞ୍ଚଳ ଲେଖି।
ଅନ୍ୟଥା କରେନି ପିଲାଟି କେବେ ଗୁରୁଙ୍କ କଥା,
ଅନ୍ୟାୟ ସଙ୍କେତେ ମାତ୍ର ସେ ଆଜି ପୋତିଲା ମଥା ।
ଚାଲିଗଲେ ପରିଦର୍ଶକ ଯେବେ ଘଣ୍ଟାକ ପରେ ,
ତିଆରି ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ ଗୁରୁ ବିରକ୍ତି ଭରେ ।
ଏଡିକି ନିର୍ବୋଧ ପିଲାତୁ ଠାର ବୁଝିଲୁ ନାହିଁ ,
ଦେଖି ଲେଖିଥିଲେ ସୁନାମ ସିନା ଥାଆନ୍ତୁ ପାଇ ।
ବିନୟେ କହିଲା ପିଲାଟି କପି କରିବା ପରା,
ଅନ୍ୟାୟ ଭିତରେ ଗୁରୁଜୀ ବଡ ଅନ୍ୟାୟେ ଧରା ।
କରିଥାନ୍ତି ଅବା କିଭଳି ଏଡେ ଅନୀତି କାମ ,
ଅସତ ପଥରେ ଚଳିକି କେହି ଅରଜେ ନାମ ।
ଅରଜିଲା ନାମ ଦିନେସେ ମହା ଆଦର୍ଶ ତାର ,
ରଖିଗଲା କାଳ ବକ୍ଷରେ ଏକ ଅଲିଭା ଗାର।
ହେଲା ଗୁରୁଙ୍କର ଗୁରୁ ସେ ଢାଳି ଆଲୋକ ଧାରା ,
ବାପୁଜୀ ନାମରେ ମୋହିଲା ସେତ ଜଗତ ସାରା ।
