Its aim is to generate awareness and interest among the younger generation towards the legacy of India’s music and dance and to serve as a platform for young and aspiring dancers to exhibit their talents. ed with the foregoing objectives, by Miss Rashmi Khanna (disciple of Guru Smt. Kalyani Shekar), in April 2002 and its members have since been engaged in imparting theoretical as well as practical training in Bharatnatyam to aspiring youngsters who have expressed their willingness to learn this art form and have exhibited an aptitude for it. Kalyani Kala Mandir has regularly organised Annual presentations of Bharatnatyam by its students titled “Prerna Utsav” between the years 2003 and 2013. In its successful endeavours towards creativity, its students have also performed a fusion of classical, semi-classical, folk and western dance through the medium of different styles of music in its various other productions. Kalyani Kala Mandir has organized productions celebrating the choreographies of the legendary Guru Shri K.N. Dandayudapanipillai. It has also presented the works of the famous poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and many other famous composers of India like Tulsidas, Sant Kabir, Swati Tirunaal etc. All the above performances received rave reviews from the critics and media alike. Within a span of twelve years, Guru Rashmi Khanna has also successfully conducted the Arangetrams, or solo debut performances, of six of her students. With effect from 2007, Kalyani Kala Mandir gained affiliation with Bangiya Sangeet Parishad (affiliated to Rabindra Bharti University, Calcutta) as one of its examination centres covering courses upto Sangeet Bivakar. All of its students have been appearing for the annual exams of the same and have passed with flying colours. Kalyani Kala Mandir has also started a Scholarship Scheme which identifies and rewards some of its high achieving students in terms of their technique, skill, performance, improvement and regularity and grants them Scholarships every year.
