Mahmood Farooqui, a historian, writer and performer based in Delhi, revived this art form. Together with his team, he is putting this art form back on the performing arts' map. Last evening, Dastan-e Khwaja Ahmad Abbas found its voice, its audience, and its home.
What began as an attempt to revisit the life of one of India's most remarkable storytellers became an evening of shared memories, ideas, laughter, and reflection. Abbas Sahib's journey—as a freedom fighter, journalist, novelist, screenwriter, filmmaker, and an unwavering humanist—came alive once again through the dastan.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Syeda aapa and the 'Khwaja Ahmad Abbas Memorial Trust' for their constant support, encouragement, and faith in this endeavour. Their commitment to preserving Abbas Sahib's legacy made this presentation possible.
And above all, our deepest thanks to the wonderful audience who joined us. Your warmth, attention, applause, and engagement transformed a performance into a conversation across generations.
