The workshop has been designed to accommodate musicians, producers and enthusiasts at any level of experience. Expect three days packed with a fair bit of sweat, tears and maybe even blood. Should you succeed in your efforts, you will walk away with a fully functional and studio ready pedal. None of that exposed circuit board housed in a carboard box or Altoids tin crap. The pedal will be securely mounted in a cast aluminium enclosure and the boards populated with industry premium components. And if you do it well, maybe someday you pass what you build here to your kids.
The pedal will be based on a ProCo Rat circuit with small modifications for overvoltage operation, clipping diode selection and a swappable opamp.
Key activities:
Assembling and soldering circuit boards
Drilling and lettering the enclosure
Fitting and assembling the pedal
While there may be a brief introduction to a block diagram based understanding of the circuit topologies, any sort of nuanced understanding of the circuits or the principles involved would be outside the scope of this workshop. While we'd be happy to answer any questions as they arise, we can only do so while time permits and one should best temper their expectations regarding the same.
All the requisite parts, materials and equipment will be provided. While guidance and assistance will be provided at every step of the process, we expect our participants to do the work for themselves. If you just want the pedal and don't care to build one for yourself, contact us privately, we'd be happy to just build you one.
