We are proud daughters today, as we introduce you to our mother and her art. My earliest memory of her work was being mesmerized by her gigantic college portfolio. The bulky thing would come out of the bed box twice a year when summer/winter clothes were packed in, and each time we would insist on dismantling it and spend hours looking at every piece. Dancing figures, landscapes, still images, boo

k covers, and a hundred other stunning pieces would come out, and go back in to be opened again in 6 months. Our aunt tells us that when mom was in school, she could always be spotted with a paintbrush in hand, painting all time. It was her passion to become an artist right from her childhood days, and she followed this passion by studying Fine Art from Women’s Polytechnic in Maharani Bagh. And then began the usual turns life takes – marriage, managing a house along with a full time job, two daughters and all the chaos they brought to her life :P! She had no time to pursue her passion anymore and the paints went back into old cupboards and drawers. Three months ago, a little bulb went off in mumma’s head and she realized she has more time on her hands now than she has had in the past 30+ years. So, she started to paint….she liked it so much it became a daily route. Hook or crook, she now takes out a couple of hours each day to put brush to paper. The stack of paintings started to grow and we decided it was time to share her art with the world! So here we are, showcasing our mother’s talent to all of you.
