This is Kerala’s most wild tradition. And it’s 200 years old. If you’ve never seen Pulikali, here’s what happens:

On the 4th day of Onam, hundreds of men paint their bodies as tigers, leopards & lions and dance around Thrissur’s Swaraj Round. It starts in the afternoon and goes till night. The belly is the canvas. The crowd is the jungle.
