We at MITHILAsmita are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Laila El Baradei—a distinguished 🇪🇬 academic, visionary leader, and a compassionate humanitarian whose legacy will forever inspire countless lives across the globe.
Our recent interaction with Dr. Baradei in Jan 2025, when she led the esteemed Egyptian delegation from AUC The American University in Cairo to 🇮🇳 and to O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) , remains etched in our memories. Her meeting with our Founder, Ms. Ihitashri Shandilya, was more than an academic exchange—it marked the beginning of a meaningful and promising collaboration between and . Dr. Baradei’s noble vision for empowering traditional artists and preserving indigenous art forms resonated deeply with us, and her warmth, intellect, and gentle demeanor left an indelible mark on all of us.
Dr. Baradei was not only a brilliant academic—serving in various leadership roles at AUC and dedicating her life to public policy, education, and development—but also a soul deeply committed to humanity. We truly understand how her passing is a tremendous loss to her family, students, colleagues, and to the global community that looked up to her for guidance and inspiration.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to her loved ones, her students, the faculty at the American University in Cairo, and to all international partners who were touched by her life and mission. May all of us find strength and comfort in her great legacy and the values she stood for.
