TASNEEM ZEHRA, ACTOR, Final year student.
"If I am asked to describe my journey in Expressions in one word, I'd call it Magical. Expressions is not merely a theatre platform but a home, a home full of talents, laughs, tears, and triumphs. From the cold misty wintry mornings to the hot scorching summery sun over out heads, no one and nothing could impede Expressions from working hard and achieving its goals. I find myself fortunate enough to be an artist associated with a Team that kept galloping despite the odds.
Expressions created opportunities for me to perform at various forums, it gave me the liberty to explore and experiment with my character. It brought back the confidence that I presumed I had lost; it helped me in believing in my myself, once again.
My journey from the Old Lady in the Street Play - Votebandi to the Mad Lady Macbeth in the Stage Play - Macbeth has been phenomenal. Along with the theater experiences, Expressions, also, gave me lessons and friends, for life. Packing up production is akin to finishing a favorite TV series, we just sit idle deciding on what to do next. It is like the end of an era. Each Expression Production that I have been a part of holds a great and close position in my life. And I happily look forward to working with this great Team that stands together, stays together, no matter what."

NARHITYA NAWAL - Second year student. Backstage/Writer.

"Theatre was new to me. And being a reticent brooder, who likes to fend off the spotlight wherever possible, theatre wasn't anywhere in the plan. Entering Expressions was a rather random cast. A few friends told me they needed people for the backstage, I volunteered to help and that was it. Though I soon developed an interest in the art, it did take me some time to figure out if I was actually content and happy with the job I was doing. And I realised I was. Backstage jobs can easily seem mundane and not appropriately felicitating, but once you understand the unrolling of a theatre performance, you realise it's worth all the effort. It is indeed tough explaining to most people the worth of stage management tasks, and telling them you like it, is tougher. But theatre is one and by far the only place that gives as much importance to those working behind the curtains, as to those in front of it.
Theatre has it's own culture and fashion, and once you get the idea of it, it becomes very much a part of your life. Working with the team of Expressions taught me a lot of things, about art, teamwork, creativity, and about myself. The team is extremely supportive and kind. Through it, I've met some really talented and genuine people and I've learnt a lot from them. It's been an amazing journey so far and it's been privilege being a part of it.

FAIZAN SALIK - BACKSTAGE/SCRIPT WRITING - 2nd year student.
'Expressions,' as the name substantially suggests of a platter of varied assertions, is indeed what most of us have cherished over the years.
As a society, Expressions has served as a staunch pedestal for showcasing individual talents and moulding them into a collective effort that could fill us with a feeling of joy & amazement; apart from this it also serves as a juncture to explore the various sides of a person and create an interactive interface for developing strong liaisons.
For a person like me who never thought of being in theater at all, it has been an experience of a kind, which allowed me to explore my various facades as an individual and experience a trail of emotions from overwhelming applauses to critical remarks and tears of joy to cheerful gags, it seems ineffable.
Being here is indeed an honor, and I shall always remain indebted to 'Expressions' for what it bestowed on me.

TOMY YACOB, Actor - 2nd year student.

"The best thing you can offer a stranger, is an accepting smile. It warms them up and helps them relate. They no longer feel alone in the foreign system.

This is what 'Expressions' did to me. The support I received is indeed praiseworthy. It welcomed my crude form and refined it inside out. None of us were professionals, but were willing to accept the suggestions and grow. It taught me the value of communion. We learnt together.
And the result?
Amazing experiences. From performing a nukkad at a govt. school to the creation of our magnum opus, MACBETH, that won the runner-up at the national level drama competition organised by the Shakespeare Society of India, I cherish every memory.
It was indeed a team.
I'll remain indebted."

Registrations Open to Expressions Theatre for the session 2018-19.
Last year, if anything but theatre, Expression did learn to survive, persevere and strive to keep performing. We performed by the big banners of Paryatan Parv organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, or that of Shakespeare Society of India as well as in our local university programmes like Girl's Hostel Freshers and the Farewell of English Department, alike. It's performing that matters after all, and we know that.
Robert De Niro was once asked if he were to place Talent or Luck higher than the other, which one he would eventually? And he answered, "Talent. But not the talent of acting, rather the talent of choices, real hard ones. Making right choices is a Talent after all".

ARSHEMAH SIDDIQ ADAB (ACTOR) B.sc Biosciences 3rd year.
"I was leaning onto the door of the seminar hall of English department, peeking into the audition just when someone noticed me lingering there, on the gate and asked me if I had come for the auditions, only to instead watch my anxiety provoking me to run away from there in fear. But I returned a day after and got selected, it was a tough one for me, but I coped up and decided to wrap up my fears and believe in these people. This society induced fearlessness in me, their familiarity and treatment enhanced my potential to learn in theatre. After numerous street performances, to winning at BITS, to preparing a monoact of my own and performing it successfully at numerous stages without slightest bit of stage-fright, I can say that Expressions has been my hogwarts."

MOHAMMAD ZAID, B.tech 2nd year (ACTOR, TECHNICIAN)
"My journey in Expressions started out as the technical guy - the Photoshop guy who designs posters, looks for appropriate music/sound effects and hopefully play them when required during the theatrical play. Somewhere between random playlists and royalty free music, Expressions turned into a family where I not only explored myself technically but also as a person.
My journey includes unforgettable trips, last minute technical jitters, adrenaline rush, diverse consoles, good lighting systems, bad lighting systems, scripts that made me spellbound, the amount of hard work that goes in for even a 15 minute play and sharing the stage as a Shakespearian character with amazing people onstage and backstage. It has been an honour to work with all of you. Somewhere between dancing, singing, last rehearsals that were never the last ones, panicking, over thinking, bluetooth speaker that always lacked charging, character building, love, professionalism, birthdays, torn kurtas, festivals etc I found out how much I had been missing in life.
Thank you for making me a part of this beautiful journey."
