Biskohar ki Vasantsena acknowledges the historical and continuing presence of women artists within India’s performative cultures—particularly those whose contributions have been celebrated aesthetically yet marginalized socially. Their participation in this work is neither symbolic nor peripheral; it is integral to the dramaturgy, expanding the performance vocabulary while reclaiming artistic space with dignity, agency, and respect.
Rooted in poetry and lived experience, Biskohar ki Vasantsena is an offering to the unnamed and often unrecorded artists whose voices have shaped our cultural inheritance. The production invites audiences into a journey of listening—through rhythm, gesture, movement, and silence—to histories that remain alive within collective memory. Through music, dance, narration, and ensemble theatre, the work repositions the courtesan not as an object of gaze, but as a bearer of knowledge, emotion, and cultural continuity.
