💬🌎 | Mar 15 | 11am to 1pm

This Sunday morning, the director of the Red House, Arjun Shivaji Jain, welcomes you to his home in CR Park. We will sit behind his seven Gothic-arched balcony and talk about what it has meant, historically, and what it might mean today, to be a CITIZEN OF THE WORLD.

Through his work as an artist, adventurer, and cultural advocate of the last decade, he has thought about and experimented with the subject to a very great extent. Weaving together examples of the likes of whole societies such as those of the troubadours, groups of wandering artists such as the Peredvizniki, and individuals such as the unbelievably prolific mathematician Paul Erdős, we will talk and open to discussion the lifestyle and worldview required for such attainment.

👣 | Mar 8 | 8.30am to 10.30am

This Sunday morning, in this perfect weather, we’re going outdoors! For a springtime ARCHITECTURAL AND CULTURAL WALK through RK Puram - with Sameeksha Bhatt!

We're thinking a lot about migration these days, how different communities co-exist, and just how precisely such movement leads to the evolution of modern cosmopolises. As for why RK Puram specifically - because it offers a rare lens into how state planning, commemorative naming, migrant communities, and sacred architecture have shaped Delhi’s evolving urban identity.

As a postgraduate archaeology student, Sameeksha Bhatt has focused on Indology, and has lead many a historical and museum walk linking architecture, art, philosophy, and historiography, exploring sites’ origins, cultural meaning, contemporary relevance, and thematic photography perspectives.

🟥⬜🟦 | Mar 1 | 11am to 2pm

This Sunday morning, come join us for something we've been planning for ages! A MOSAIC WORKSHOP in the stye of the inimitable GAUDI, and our very own NEK CHAND - on our new and improved balcony — to the accompaniment of some lip-smackingly good Spanish and Holi themed F&B!

If you've spent at all time with us, you would know of our supreme love for Gaudi! His Sagrada Família, his mosaic sculptures at the Park Güell - are emblems of reinvention for us. Continuous reinvention. And well, Nek Chand - is all that is good and true about the sheer and beautiful power of Indian private enterprise - of what the individual can really and magnificently do.

We'll be working with tile and lime, as Gaudi himself did back in the day, and what you work on will permanently become part of the Red House's architecture - for posterity. The workshop will be conducted by director of Red House, Arjun Shivaji Jain, graduate of Central Saint Martins of the University of the Arts in London, former Young Companions' Representative of the Guild of St George, and recently published as one of the 108 representative contemporary artists of India.

₹2150 per attendee. F&B included.

To register for the event, send an email to [email protected] at the earliest. Spots are very limited.

🌳😋 | Feb 8 | 11am to 1pm

This Sunday morning, come join us for something completely unexpected! A BRUNCH - a pakora party - of some of the many EDIBLE TREES and commons of DELHI! Think shehtoot ke patte ke pakore with ber ki chatni — with none other than CHANDAN TIWARI, joining us for a second time and author of perhaps the most popular and definitive page on the Trees of Delhi .

We'll be eating of course many an exotic pakora and chutney, with tea, but also talking about the tree-life of Delhi, its progression through the seasons, and well, the scope and possibility of foraging and eating parts of it! And if you attended our tree walk with Chandan last, you would know how enjoyable the conversation is going to be!

As for Chandan Tiwary, he has been living in Delhi for more than twenty years and working as an in-house legal counsel. Exploring Delhi is not only close to his heart, but in his own words, also his favourite pastime. His interest in trees of Delhi has taken me to very many green patches in and around Delhi, the journey is still continuing.

➕🔨 | Jan 31 to Mar 18

To feel at home in the world. To be world citizens. That is what we are aiming at. And that is what is actually happening now at the Red House.

But before we do that, we need to ensure we are in good health. In good mental and physical health. Our regular weekly offerings this cycle of events are therefore about 'housekeeping' - engaging with mind and body to the utmost.

Head over to the LINKS IN OUR BIO to know more about each. And let us know as soon as possible to sign up. First-come-first-served, RH Residents! We won't wait.

👣 | Jan 31 | 2pm to 4pm

This Jan 31st, on occasion of the 78th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, we invite you to join us and other Red House Residents on a walk through the Partition Museum at the Dara Shukoh Library in Delhi, followed by an enlightening joint discussion on the lesser known aspects of the Museum, the refugee communities in Delhi and people like Salman Rushdie’s experience of the Partition.

The discussion will be lead by the wonderfully illustrious Chintan Gandhi, 'an exhibition and museum designer by trade, working in the intersectionality of design, research, museum sustainability and Gandhian ethos. An active promoter of inter-religious commonalities and dialogue for peace', Chintan was instrumental, interestingly, in mapping out Arjun Shivaji Jain, director of the Red House's route of the 10-day-retracing of the 1930 Dandi March in November 2024.

₹350 per attendee. To register, email [email protected]

Note:
1. The walk is beginner friendly.
2. The Rs. 50 entry ticket to the museum will have to be purchased individually by participants, and is not included in the Red House fee.
3. Members from the Red House team will be at the location along with the talk leader. The meeting point for each walk will be communicated upon confirmation of your registration.

‘I am made and remade continually. Different people draw different words from me.’ There is a very real kind of censorship one inflicts on one's self, to the detriment of one's maturity, whether in writing or in being— this coming Sunday, we invoke again Virginia Woolf, and the radical reinvention she helped bring about in modernist literature.

Join us for the third edition of this rare flagship workshop of ours on the stream-of-consciousness method of writing, which has been used not only by Woolf, but James Joyce, Marcel Proust, Jack Kerouac, Sylvia Plath and many others. Through a substantial introduction to the technique, practice of various more particular technical aspects of it, and a series of guided writings (which you will do) and readings, we will acquire this means of rawer self-expression and exploration. We will, in this way, engage with Woolf on a personal level, and better understand her contribution to literature. — Most of all, however, we will endeavour to understand how 'Freedom' begins at home - in the mind.

Early Bird Offer: ₹500 per attendee (valid for the first 10 registrations)
Regular Price: ₹600 per attendee (valid after the first 10 registrations are done)

To register, email [email protected].

Big News! You can now STAY at the Red House! Construction is underway as you read this — and we've begun taking advance bookings!

Red House's architecture has already been thoroughly recognised as quite unbelievable in its very existence here in Delhi, and we kid you not, working here is a REAL pleasure — but mid-Feb onwards, spend for yourself a night or three, or more here, and experience the pleasures of a farmhouse at the rate of a single room.

For the first month of operation, we have special promotional offers - which we highly suggest you take advantage of. People like John Ruskin, William Morris, Laurie Baker, and Krishnamurthy have contributed to the building of this - soak in their spirit.
