बोल के लब आज़ाद हैं तेरे!

Dastak AUD, along side .jmi and .du participated in the Parliament March on the call of United students of India held on 12th January 2024.

We expressed our dissent through a series of revolutionary songs emphasising the belongingness of Art amongst the masses, not just as a means of entertainment, but societal change and justice.

Dastak AUD firmly stands against communalisation, commercialisation and centralisation of our education system and will continue to do so!

Today, Dastak AUD successfully conducted a historical walk-through at Feroz Shah Kotla (fort) led by Priyansh Maurya.

We delved into the history of the Kotla from its inception under the Tughlaqs until the late 90’s. We discussed the fort’s architecture, including the Baoli which is supposedly inhabited by fairies, the Kotla’a Mosque, as well as the Ashokan Pillar which led to James Princep translating the Brahmi script. The foundation of Bhagat Singh’s HSRA was also discussed, and many poems and shayaris were recited.

The importance of such important historical monuments has to be highlighted amongst students in order to keep India’s rich history alive amongst its people.

We thank all students for coming, and we hope to see more of you in our next event!

“The pen is mightier than the sword. Education is the greatest weapon to eradicate social evils.”
–Savitribai Phule

Dastak AUD remembers the great revolutionary and a staunch advocate for social justice Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary.

Her revolutionary role in transforming education, society and breaking the chains of oppression continues to inspire us to break the shackles of patriarchal and casteist norms and exploitation.

Jai Savitri, Jai Bhim!

Safdar, an activist, writer, poet, and theatre artist, was killed by the goons of Congress while performing a street play in Jhandapur, Sahibabad (near Delhi) on 2nd January, 1989 alongside Ram Bahadur.

In an era where the voices of dissent are aggressively suppressed by the establishment, Safdar’s legacy and how he challenged the power centers by bringing a medium once considered elite to the streets still remains a major source of inspiration for us. Safdar revolutionised the definition of culture and art, brought it to the masses, where it belongs.

Dastak AUD gives red salutes and reminisces the legacy of our Comrade Safdar Hashmi on his 35th Martyrdom Day.

Safdar Hashmi Amar Rahein!

Come one, come all!

We invite all students of AUD interested in art, theatre, music, or writing to an orientation and open practice session today at 1 in the CR Area.

Dastak AUD is a progressive cultural forum where we believe art should not be limited to just a few. Instead, art is to be created, participated in, and expressed to and by all of the masses.

In the orientation, we will be discussing what Dastak and progressive art are. Along with this we will be having an open practice session. We will practice some revolutionary songs which will be performed at the Kisaan-Mazdoor rally on the 5th of April.

We invite all students interested in progressive art to attend this orientation. Hope to see you all tomorrow!

Revolutionary Greetings to Everyone!

Art is an expression and our expression is of dissent.

DASTAK AUD is a forum for progressive artists and writers among Ambedkar University Delhi students. We hope to extend the community which aligns itself with the concerns of the common students and the most marginalized, where everyone can contribute through art, where the gap between campus politics and artistic expression is sought to be irreversibly bridged. We pledge to defend the constitution, the values of socialism, independence and democracy. We believe that campuses are grounds for transformation, for encouraging thinking minds to pursue the path towards the liberation of the most marginalized of us, the liberation of all.

Our weapons are not guns and tanks. We fight with our songs, our art, our words. We fight collectively. As history has shown us, every fascist regime has been challenged by songs of resistance which were integral for building solidarities, spreading ideas of change and keeping the revolutionary spirit alive. In that same spirit of resistance, we call the artists, writers, filmmakers, musicians, theatre practitioners of AUD to come join us.

On that long path, we invite you to join Dastak AUD, and carry forward the struggle which thousands before us carried in their hearts, in their art, at the very centre of their lives!

DASTAK presents to you a street play against NEP!

The play exposes the truths about the new National Education Policy and how it intends to dismantle the public education system through privatisation while also promoting saffronisation. This depiction shows how the new policies of CUET and FYUP, under NEP, are going to favour only the privileged sections of society and take away the right to eduction from those who won't be able to pay the high fees. The issues of reservations and access are completely absent from the scheme.

Join us tomorrow at 1 pm in front of the AUD KG main gate, be part of the bike caravan and the street play.

Get ready for the All India Jatha against NEP.
