OPEN CALL FOR A PEER-LEARNING WORKSHOP •
2, 3, 4 Feb 2023, Delhi.

In Sylvia Wynter's evocation ‘Being Human as Praxis’ (2007), she expands on the importance of the origin story, centring the act of auto-narration in the process of instituting oneself as full and complex human being outside the enlightenment definition of Man — a move she describes as the 'Autopoetic Turn/Overturn'.

The workshop builds upon her text, looking to shift discussions around identities, communities, movements, issues away from monolithic formations towards intersectional, nuanced, complex understandings via the medium of auto-narration — the embodied narration of personal stories.

Open to:
Artists, performers, writers, activists with Trans*, Q***r, Dalit, Bahujan, Adivasi, Religious Minority, Disabled and/or Neurodiverse experiences.

Structure:
2nd Feb: 11am - 6pm
3rd Feb: 4 - 9 pm
4th Feb: 2 - 8 pm

at Party Office in New Delhi,
(walking distance from Malviya Nagar Metro)

Selected participants will get a honorarium of Rs. 4000 (on attending all three days. Unfortunately, no other travel or accommodation stipend is available.

Somnath is a researcher and documentary filmmaker born in Malewadi, a small village in Sangli district in Maharashtra. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Sciences from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, from where he also did his MPhil. He stayed in the caste ghetto of his village for 22 years, doing his graduation in sociology at KBP college in Islampur. Changing the contents of textbooks has been one of the consistent modus operandi of this ruling regime. In 'Saavdhaan: The Regimes of Truth' we had documented the changes brought about in history textbooks to glorify the idea of a Hindu India. Now under the guise of the pandemic, the CBSE has deleted topics covering citizenship and secularism, further degrading the future of democracy in our country.

Sub-sections including ‘why do we need local governments?’ and ‘growth of local government in India’ have also been removed.

Inviting artists, designers and other creatives to contribute to an essential public awareness programme. Contributors are invited to create a poster themed around a question they would like to ask their neighbourhoods, as well as state infrastructure. All works must be created such that they can be printed in b/w and photocopied on A4 sheets (See reference image attached). All submitted works will be collected in an online repository, open to be downloaded, easily printed and used for diffused protests or pasted in public spaces.
