Anatomy Spotlight: Tumba & Tabli
These two parts shape the soul of the sitar’s tone. The tabli, or soundboard, helps amplify the vibration. The tumba, the hollow resonator (usually at the back), brings depth & resonance.

Pro Tip: When the wood of your tumba feels too dry or too humid, it affects sustain & tone. Keep it conditioned & avoid sudden temperature changes.
