Lighting the lamp of diligence and zeal to inaugurate the 2022-23 session of Involucre. 🪔
Swipe to get insights from the 16th September 2022 inaugural event wherein we introduced our enthusiastic involucre team for the current session.

Continuing the Involucre tradition of inaugural lectures, Prof. Arun Jagannath motivated the audience towards science and gave insights on increasing interdisciplinary approaches in plant science research. A fantastic audience interaction followed his insightful lecture.

The inaugural event culminated with the declaration of winners of the photography competition.

A pioneering botanist and cytogeneticist, Janaki Ammal ☘️ is credited with putting sweetness in India’s sugarcane varieties, speaking against the hydro-electric project in Kerala’s Silent Valley and the phenomenal study of chromosomes of thousands of species of flowering plants🌷. There is even a flower named after her, a delicate bloom in pure white called Magnolia Kobus Janaki Ammal😇.

Ever wonder🤷 that your worthless actions can lead to severe damage bit by bit? One of these damages is climate change☔ due to which weather pattern⛈️🌡️ has changed drastically. Also increase in sea level🌊, glacier retreat🏔️and decline in Arctic sea🗺️ice can be seen. Did you know that 30% of the world's population is exposed to deadly heat waves♨️ more than 20 days a year.
To overcome these issues, Climate action 🌋came into the picture which is a 13th goal of SDGs🧑‍🔧, it means stepped-up efforts to reduce greenhouse gas📉 emissions and strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-induced impacts, including integrating 🤝climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning.
Empowerment of climate action ♻️is only possible if we understand the issue, focus on solutions🧐, assess what we individual can do🌱 and take a simple yet powerful action.💚

World Migratory Bird Day🦜🐦 (WMBD) is an annual awareness-raising campaign, initiated in 2006. It was established by the Secretariat of the Agreement on the conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds🦢 (UNEP-AEWA) in collaboration with Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals🐅🐆(CMS).
The campaign aims to raise📢 awareness of migratory birds and the need for international co-operation to conserve them. It says that "Migratory birds🐦🐦 connect us with their unique songs🎶🎵 and flights and remind us of the importance of working together🤝, across borders, to protect them" and hence, this year the theme of WMBD is "Sing🎶, fly🕊️, sour- like a bird". The campaign will focus on the phenomena of "bird song" and "bird flight" as a way to inspire and people of all ages around the world in their shared desire to celebrate migratory birds🦜🦜and to unite👭 in a common, global effort to protect birds and the habitats🌍they need to survive.
