Fun Facts about Mynas:

They are passerines or songbirds. They don't all belong to one species but all of them are types of starlings.
Most species nest in holes.
Some species such as common hill myna have become well known for their imitative skills.

Marking the start of Amarnath Yatra, I would like to share with you all, my new painting and the experience of visiting the holy cave of Amarnath when I was still studying.

Title: Holy Anarnath

Amarnath is yet another divine and auspicious pilgrimage for Hindus. The shivling here is formed from snowy drops dripping from the rooftop of this holy cave. A pair of white pigeon seen here are believed to be the sight of Shiva and Parvati. Nobody can get luckier than the one who is blessed to have seen this pigeon couple in the Amarnath cave.

As a child I always wanted to visit Amarnath because I had many times heard about the jaw-dropping beautiful places that enroute the great pilgrimage from my father. The dream came true around 20 years back, when all of a sudden me and my father while discussing about the holy cave decided to pack our bags and take the yatra that I had always been longing for. We went from Sonamarg and came back from the Pahalgam.

I still remember, the whole track is full of beautiful places, that are difficult to describe in words; from the lush green forests with pine trees at Chandanwari, to the pristine & mesmerizing Sheshnag Lake where Lord Shiva is believed to have left his snakes while travelling to Amarnath Cave to recite the Amar Katha to Mata Parvati, to Panchtarni where Lord Shivji is believed to have left the five elements behind viz Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Sky, to the Mahagunus Top where He is believed to have left his son Ganesh, to the Holy cave itself. The whole pilgrimage is an experience of a lifetime which will never washout from my memory even though I just visited once.
