🔹 Safety Distance Between Crane Boom and Structure?

✅ General Safety Distance Rule:
👉 Maintain at least 1 meter (minimum clearance) between:
Crane boom
Load
Any structure (building, scaffold, steel, etc.)
⚠️ Why This Distance Is Important:
Prevent collision
Avoid crushing hazards
Ensure safe movement of boom and load

🛡️ Additional Safety Controls:
1️⃣ Use a Banksman / Signalman
Guide crane movement safely
2️⃣ Establish Exclusion Zone
Keep workers away from danger area
3️⃣ Use Tag Lines
Control load swing
4️⃣ Plan the Lift
Prepare lifting plan with clearances
5️⃣ Slow & Controlled Movement
Avoid sudden boom movement
⚠️ Special Case (Near Power Lines ⚡):
👉 Follow larger clearance:
3 meters (minimum) for low voltage
More for high voltage (as per regulations)
🚨 Important Rule:
👉 Never allow boom or load to touch any structure

🧠 Example:
Crane working near building:
👉 Maintain 1 meter gap → safe operation

🎯 Interview Line:
“Minimum 1 meter clearance must be maintained between crane boom, load, and any structure to prevent collision and ensure safe lifting.”

🎯 Based on the handwritten list in your photo, these are the Life Saving Rules (LSR).Following these rules is mandatory to prevent serious injuries or fatalities at any SABIC site.Below are the standard definitions and examples for each rule as required by SABIC safety standards: 🚧

6️⃣. Energy Isolation (LOTO)
Definition: Always follow Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to isolate electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic energy before maintenance.
🚧 Example: Placing your personal padlock and a danger tag on an electrical breaker before pairing a motor to prevent it from being accidentally turned on.

7️⃣. Created Opening
👉Definition: Any floor or wall opening must be protected by physical barriers, covers, or guards to prevent falls.●
🚧 Example: If a floor grating is removed for maintenance, the hole must be immediately cordoned off with rigid handrails and warning signs.

8️⃣. Disabling Safety Systems
● Definition: Never bypass, disable, or override a safety-critical device (like a smoke detector, relief valve, or emergency shutdown) without formal authorization.
🚧 Example: If a safety sensor is malfunctioning, you cannot "jumper" or bypass it to keep the machine running without a signed "Safety Bypass Permit."

9️⃣. Vehicle Safety
● Definition: Always wear seatbelts, follow speed limits, and never use mobile phones while driving. Only authorized drivers may operate industrial vehicles (forklifts, etc.).
🚧Example: A operator must complete a daily pre-check and must not exceed the site speed limit (usually 10–20 km/h).

🔟. Management of Change (MoC)
● Definition: Any change to technology, equipment, or procedures must be reviewed and a proved through the MoC process before implementation.
🚧 Example: Replacing a valve with a different model or brand requires an MoC review to ensure the new part is compatible with the chemical and pressure of the system.Important Note: At SABIC, violating any of these rules is considered a "Zero Tolerance" offense and often leads to immediate disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contract.

🦺Based on the handwritten list in your photo, these are the SABIC Life Saving Rules (LSR).Following these rules is mandatory to prevent serious injuries or fatalities at any SABIC site.Below are the standard definitions and examples for each rule as required by SABIC safety standards:🚧

1. Safe System of Work●
🔴Definition: Never conduct work without a valid Work Permit and a proper riskassessment (JSA/HRA).● Example: Before starting a welding job, you must obtain a Hot Work Permit and ensurethe area is cleared of flammable materials.

2. Confined Space Entry●
🔴Definition: Never enter a confined space without a specific Confined Space EntryPermit, gas testing, and a dedicated standby person.● Example: Before entering a storage tank for inspection, the atmosphere must be testedfor oxygen levels and toxic gases, and a "Standby Man" must be stationed at the entrypoint.

3. Safety at Height●
🔴Definition: Always use personal fall protection equipment (PFPE) when working at aheight of 1.8 meters (6 feet) or more, or where a fall hazard exists.● Example: Wearing a full-body harness and hooking it to a certified anchor point whileworking on an elevated platform without permanent guardrails.

4. Lifting Operation●
🔴Definition: Never walk or stand under a suspended load. All lifting must be planned andperformed by certified personnel.● Example: During a crane lift, the area is barricaded, and no employee enters the "dropzone" while the load is in the air.

5. Line Break●
🔴Definition: Do not open any process pipe or equipment containing hazardous materialswithout verifying isolation, depressurization, and drainage.● Example: Before opening a fl**ge on a chemical line, ensure the line is "Zero Energy"and wear the required PPE (like a chemical suit) in case of residual spray.

👇 Man-Hours: Working Safely Every Hour: 👇

👉 What are Safe Man-Hours? 👇
Safe man-hours represent the total number of hours worked without a Lost Time Injury (LTI). It is a critical key performance indicator (KPI) used to measure workplace safety.

Why Safe Man-Hours Matter
Tracking safe man-hours is essential for the

📕 following reasons: 📕

🔴Measures safety performance:
Tracks progress and demonstrates commitment to safety.
🔴Reflects effectiveness of safety systems: Evaluates how well current safety protocols and systems are working.
🔴Encourages teamwork and safe behavior: Promotes a collective effort to prioritize safety in daily activities.
🔴Builds a strong safety culture:
Helps create an environment where safety is a shared value.
🔴Boosts workforce morale:
Reaching milestones reinforces that employee well-being is a top priority.

📕 How is it Calculated? 📕

The calculation is simply the total hours worked by all employees without any Lost Time Injury.
Calculation Example:
If you have 100 workers working for 10 hours per day, the calculation is:

100 workers ★ 10 hours per day =1,000 safe man-hours per day

🎯 Important Reminder 🎯
While safe man-hours are a significant achievement, safety should never be only about the numbers. The primary focus must always remain on hazard control and prevention every single day.

“Every Safe Hour Counts.”

📕 Track Your Progress 📕
Monitor and celebrate your safe man-hours milestones to encourage continuous safety performance.

What is LOTO and process ❓
👇
LOTO is very important : 🔐 👇👇👇
One small mistake during maintenance can cost a life.

This is why Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures are critical in electrical safety.

LOTO ensures that electrical equipment is completely de-energized and cannot be accidentally restarted while maintenance or repair work is in progress. Unfortunately, many workplace accidents still occur because of incorrect lockout practices.

The image highlights the difference between Incorrect LOTO vs Proper LOTO.

X Common LOTO Mistakes Locking the wrong isolation point

Incomplete lockout of the system

Skipping proper verification steps

Assuming equipment is de-energized

These mistakes can lead to unexpected energization, arc flash incidents, or serious injuries.

Proper LOTO Procedure

Lock the main isolator

Use a personal lock and tag

Verify zero voltage using a tester

Perform maintenance only after confirming isolation

Following these steps ensures that equipment stays completely de-energized and safe
