“There are no foolish questions, only foolish answers!”

Yes, the toughest task is to answer the questions that kids ask, especially related to the job you do, duties you carry out and mainly career prospects! You just have to simplify your answers and be as granular as possible.

When a third grade kid asks you “ I want to join forces! What shall I do?” You can’t ask him to join a coaching class or enrol in some XYZ courses. The foundation has to be set strong. After all, they are the future!

Have always enjoyed being the mentor and will continue to do so!

Anecdote: Most of the cadets who join the academy have never been through the concept of drill unless from NCC, Military or Sainik schools. Apart from drill being the bedrock of discipline, it also teaches you to improve your gait.

Let me tell you, drill instructors are the most josh type people you will ever meet in your life. They give their 200% to make cadets march and be leaders.

So there was one of my coursemates from civilian background who used to move same hand and same leg while marching. Our drill instructor found him doing this magic😅. His comment was “ Cadet, yeh jo aap kar rahe ho..mai chah ke bhi nahi kar sakta, meri body hi muje allow nahi karegi”😂

But believe you me, after being trained by the ustaads, after a couple of months that guy started marching so beautifully that he lead the parade during passing out!

Remember, we have gained this freedom because hundreds and thousands have sacrificed their lives. Never ask what nation has done for you but what you have done for the nation!
