[Press release]
Greetings from WWF-India, Khangchendzonga Landscape Program.
Every year, third Saturday of September is observed as International Red Panda day. This year it falls on 17th September 2022. It is a day to celebrate the elusive Fire Fox of our mountains, and we invite you all to join in the celebrations in your own schools.
We are so very lucky to be sharing our beautiful landscape with this gentle species, yet many of us are unaware of the animal, how special it really is, and its significance to conservation. To generate much needed awareness about the species, we feel it would be a good beginning for all schools to celebrate the day of the red panda involving students and teachers. On this front, the Education Departments of Sikkim and GTA have already issued circulars to schools to observe this day.
So we humbly request all schools in Darjeeling and Sikkim to observe International Red Panda Day, 2022. WWF- India will be sending the necessary information package to all schools to help them in their celebration, which includes – presentations, posters, quiz, other activities, etc. Schools are also free to design their own programmes.
Schools can register in the link provided below for their participation and involvement, and we shall further communicate with you through whatsapp.
