“Maasil Veenaiyum Maalai Madhiyamum” is a divine masterpiece from Thirugnana Sambandar’s Thevaram, sung at the sacred temple of Thiruvelvikkudi.
In this hymn, the young saint paints a breathtaking portrait of Lord Shiva —
the flawless veenai, the radiant crescent moon, the sacred river Ganga adorning His matted locks, and the serpent coiled gracefully around His form.

It is a hymn of astonishment and adoration, where the poet marvels at the Lord’s cosmic beauty — a beauty that is serene, wild, majestic, and compassionate all at once.

மாசில்லா வீணை, மாலையாய் மிளிரும் மதியம், சடைமேல் பாயும் கங்கை —
இந்தப் பாட்டில் சம்பந்தர் சிவபெருமானின் திருமேனியை நம் கண்களுக்கே தெளிவாக வரைகிறார்.
பக்தி, பரவசம், ஆனந்தம் — அனைத்தையும் கலந்த ஓர் தேவரப் பொக்கிஷம் இது.

NAK Vibes to Sri Meenakshi Gauri! 🙏

In this divine rendition of “Śrī Meenākshi Gauri” in raga Gauri, Muthuswami Diksh*tar celebrates the goddess in all her poise, power, and radiance. He invokes her as the dark-hued queen (rāja śyāmale), the compassionate protector of devotees (āśrita rakṣaṇa dhurīṇa-tara), and the embodiment of love, grace, and prosperity (śṛṅgāra kāma kale śriyaṃ dehi mām pāhi).

Through the charaṇam, Diksh*tar unfolds a cosmic vision — where the five elements are her foundation, where she enchants Lord Shiva, grants divine boons, dwells in the sacred kadamba grove, and adorns herself with the pearls of liberation. She is both the gentle mother and the supreme truth, the essence of tat-tvam-asi.
