We’re delighted to announce our representation of Thukral & Tagra.

Known for a multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, gaming, archiving, publishing and social engagement, the duo has spent over two decades examining the forces shaping contemporary life from consumer culture and migration to ecology and climate change.

To celebrate this partnership, we present Mimesis, opening 6 June 2026.

The exhibition navigates the space between organic ecosystems and digital worlds, grounded in the material language of painting.

Mimesis also marks the first exhibition in our new white cube gallery space in Chennai.

Opening Weekend : 11 AM - 7 PM | 06 - 07 June
4 PM - 7 PM | 8 June onwards

Ashvita’s is pleased to present an exhibition of works by R. Varadarajan (1935–2019), one of the most distinctive voices of the Madras Art Movement. Through abstraction, fragmentation and instinctive gesture, Varadarajan created deeply psychological landscapes that moved beyond representation into states of memory, tension and vulnerability.

Spanning painting, drawing, printmaking and collage, the exhibition reflects the artist’s lifelong commitment to experimentation and formal inquiry.

Preview on 28 May 2026, from 6 PM onwards at Ashvita’s, Chennai.

What does home become when the world around us is constantly changing?

Curated by Dr. Amin Jaffer, with Ashvin E Rajagopalan as Associate Curator, the pavilion reflects on home not as a fixed geography, but as something carried within us — through ritual, material, memory and emotion.

At the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the National Pavilion of India presents Geographies of Distance: remembering home - an exploration of memory, migration, identity and belonging through the works of contemporary artists whose practices are shaped by movement, transformation and lived experience.

This reel offers a glimpse into the ideas, processes and personal worlds of the artists representing India on one of the most important global stages for contemporary art.

At the India Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia, Geographies of Distance: remembering home reflects on the idea of home in a world shaped by movement, migration and constant change.

Through installation, material, memory and atmosphere, the exhibition explores how home can exist beyond physical space - carried instead through emotion, ritual and lived experience.

These installation views capture fragments of that experience: spaces shaped by light, texture, memory and belonging.
