Another Great Beginning. Rasika Ranjini Sabha, or RR sabha as it is popularly known, is in the heartland of Mylapore, Chennai (India), a center of culture and arts. Ours has been a journey through 85 golden years and we are the second oldest cultural sabha in the city. For over eight decades we have brought music, dance, and drama to a wide range of audiences. Our sabha has been graced with perfor
mances by eminent stalwarts and doyens of Carnatic music, other classical arts, and drama. We are working towards transforming our sabha into high-quality art and cultural venue to serve better the needs of our current and future rasikas. We are rebuilding the center into a multi-facility complex with modern technical facilities and state-of-the-art electronic capabilities. The center will consist of the main auditorium with a seating capacity of 865 and a mini auditorium with a seating capacity of 229. The precinct is to also have a computerized reference library, encompassing all dimensions of music, art, and drama. The structure would also facilitate a recording room, including a video recording room for upcoming artists to practice. The center would also have a 2000 sq. open hall to conduct functions and exhibitions. There will be a rooftop garden with a cafeteria. The total cost of the project is Rs 10 Crores, out of which 2.5 Crores have been raised to help complete the basement and main hall with balcony. In order to complete the first phase, we require another 5 Crore rupees. We appeal to Rasikas in India and all over the world, to contribute towards this project, to make this a grand success. We hope to reinstate this cultural landmark which we strongly believe will be a seamless mix of both tradition and modernity.
