What happens when curiosity turns into a career?

In our latest feature, Bardan Gurung () reflects on his journey from a background in Computer Science and IT to becoming a motion designer at Rsquare.

Without a formal design education, his path into motion design was built through experimentation, self-learning, and a willingness to keep exploring.

During our conversation, Bardan spoke about learning to slow down, understanding the purpose behind every motion choice, balancing creativity with real project expectations, and discovering the value of collaboration inside a studio environment.

One thought that stayed with us:
“I stopped asking how something should move and started asking why it should move.”

What if your best idea doesn’t belong to a single medium?

A photograph becomes an illustration.

An illustration becomes a film.

A passing observation becomes an entire creative universe.

For Vimal Chandran (), ideas don’t arrive with instructions. They emerge from everyday moments, a conversation, a journey, a line from a book, a scene on the street, and then evolve into whatever form the story demands.

Rather than choosing between photography, illustration, or filmmaking, Vimal follows the idea and lets the medium reveal itself along the way.

In our latest conversation, he reflects on:
• Finding ideas in unexpected places
• Building stories across multiple mediums
• Travel, curiosity, and creative freedom
• Why authenticity matters more than originality

If Rasna, Lijjat Papad, and Parle-G could tell their stories today, what would they look like? 🎨✨

That’s the kind of nostalgia-fuelled question illustrator Anirudh Kadav () explores through his playful doodles. Taking everyday memories, beloved brands, and familiar moments, he reimagines them with warmth, humour, and a whole lot of personality. His work is rooted in observation, storytelling, and the little details that make us smile.

What makes it special is how instantly relatable it feels. One doodle, and suddenly you’re transported back to summer vacations, evening snacks, or childhood treats that still hold a place in your memory.

Most Airport Lounges Look Expensive. Very Few Feel Memorable.

For Bengaluru International Airport’s Terminal 2, Design Stack approached the 080 Lounge differently - not as a waiting area, but as a journey through multiple moods, spaces, and experiences.

Instead of creating one large uniform environment, the lounge is divided into different “neighbourhoods,” each designed to feel distinct while still connected.

What makes the project interesting is how it interprets hospitality through spatial storytelling rather than decorative luxury.

When you face a challenge, do you see an obstacle or an opportunity?

Illustrator Febin Raj reflects on this very idea in Opportunities or Obstacles?, exploring how perspective shapes the creative journey.

For him, illustration is not just about technique but about observation - drawing inspiration from nature, travel, and everyday experiences. These influences slowly find their way into his compositions, where geometry, atmosphere, and carefully chosen colour palettes work together to create thoughtful visual narratives.

His process blends traditional mediums, such as watercolour, with digital exploration, allowing for experimentation while staying connected to the tactile joy of making.

What stands out is the mindset behind the work: creativity often grows when we choose curiosity over hesitation.
