We are performing 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶 𝗥𝗲 at Arthshila Santiniketan this Saturday, 26 September at 5:30 PM. 🌿

𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶 𝗥𝗲 emerges from the ‘tug of war’ between the claims of the Manasa Mangal Kavya and the performers’ disbelief in them.

Through Behula, we explore questions around women’s bodily agency, identity, choices, and the ways society looks at and defines women. Her shifting identity between the public and private realms opens up possibilities of a counter-narrative—one that allows us to rethink women’s lives, desires, and agency.

অবলিখিত | The Unwritten Archive-এর দ্বিতীয় পর্বে আমরা কথা বলেছি আমাদের বন্ধু ও অতিথি বুবাই (সুমিতা বীথি)-র সঙ্গে—জীবন, পাহাড়, লেখা, যাপন, ভালোবাসা এবং সেক্স, জেন্ডার ও সেক্সুয়ালিটি নিয়ে এক দীর্ঘ, অন্তরঙ্গ ও প্রাণবন্ত আড্ডায়।

কিছু গল্প পাহাড়ের মতো—
দূর থেকে শুধু দেখা যায়,
কাছে গেলে বোঝা যায়, তার শরীরে জমে আছে কত পথ, কত ঋতু, কত স্মৃতি।

কিছু গল্প লেখা হয় কাগজে।
আর কিছু গল্প লেখা থাকে মানুষের জীবনেই—
তার যাপনে, তার ভালোবাসায়, তার শরীরে, তার পরিচয়ে, তার প্রশ্নে।

আসুন, আমাদের আড্ডার দ্বিতীয় পর্বে।
এবার আমাদের অবলিখিত | The Unwritten Archive-এর দ্বিতীয় আড্ডায় আমাদের আড্ডার বন্ধু বুবাই (সুমিতা বীথি)।

একজন মানুষ, যাঁর গল্পে মিশে আছে জীবন, পাহাড়, লেখা, ভালোবাসা আর আছে সমাজের বিভিন্ন মানুষের সাথে কাজের অভিজ্ঞতা।

অনেক অনেক গল্প হয়েছে।
কখনও ব্যক্তিগত, কখনও রাজনৈতিক, কখনও খুব চেনা, আবার কখনও এমন কিছু—যা হয়তো আমরা আগে এভাবে শুনিনি।

এই কথোপকথন শুধুমাত্র কিছু প্রশ্ন ও উত্তরের সমষ্টি নয়।
এ একসঙ্গে বসে গল্প শোনার আড্ডা।
একজন মানুষের জীবনকে তার নিজের ভাষায় শোনার চেষ্টা।

Theatre is not only performed through actors—it is sculpted through light. A well-crafted lighting design shapes space, emotion, rhythm and storytelling, transforming a performance into an immersive experience.

As a part of Insights Into Performance 2.0, SAMUHO presents Module 2: Light Design and Ex*****on in Theatre, facilitated by Dipankar Dey.

About the Facilitator - Dipankar Dey is a veteran stage lighting designer and theatre practitioner who has been working in the field since 1989. With over three decades of experience, he has designed lighting for numerous acclaimed theatre productions as well as performances by some of India's most celebrated musicians and dancers, including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Birju Maharaj, Rashid Khan, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Shubha Mudgal, and many others. His work continues to inspire generations of theatre practitioners through its artistic precision and creative vision.

Our Vision - This workshop is designed for theatre practitioners, students, technicians and anyone curious about the craft of stage lighting. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of theatrical lighting—from understanding light as a storytelling tool to practical ex*****on, cueing, stage coverage, colour, angle, intensity, collaboration with directors and performers, and the realities of working in performance spaces. Combining practical demonstrations with decades of professional experience, the module aims to deepen participants' understanding of how light shapes performance.
