Banyan Tree~~ The Sacred Giant of India
In lands where sun and silence meet,
There grows a tree with mighty feet.
The banyan tree, broad, bold, and high,
Stretches its arms into the sky.
A strong symbol in Indian lore,
It stands where sages walked before.
With roots that fall from limbs above,
It weaves a net of care and love.
Not just a tree, it forms a grove,
A world within its leafy cove.
It houses birds, it shelters men,
And it welcomes life again & again.
The sacred tree of India’s land,
Grows not by plan, nor by command.
It grows with grace, with wisdom old,
With countless stories, yet untold.
The yogi sits beneath its shade,
In tranquil peace, his soul is laid.
The banyan listens, calm and wise,
As chants arise beneath the skies.
From village paths to temple grounds,
The banyan’s roots know sacred sounds.
Of marriage vows and cries of birth,
Of every joy and test of earth.
Its roots grow deep, yet rise anew,
Each drop of rain, each morning dew,
Feeds the strength of this mighty tree,
A miracle of botany.
