Joe Milton’s time with the Dallas Cowboys has taken a surprising turn after the team waived the young quarterback just one day after keeping him on the initial 53-man roster. Dallas made the move to create space for running back Emari Demercado, who was claimed off waivers, while Sam Howell is now positioned as Dak Prescott’s backup.
Milton had actually put together a strong preseason, completing 29 of 43 passes for 378 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions across three games. He spent last season with Dallas after arriving in a trade from New England and had been competing with Howell throughout camp for the No. 2 quarterback job.
Milton now goes through the waiver process, meaning another team can claim him before Dallas gets any chance to bring him back. If he clears waivers, a return to the Cowboys’ practice squad remains possible. After that preseason performance, do you think another NFL team should give Milton a shot?
