Varaha relief, Chennakeshava Temple, Belur
Commissioned by Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana, 1117 CE.
Carved in soapstone, this panel depicts Varaha lifting Bhudevi,
a fine example of Hoysala sculptural precision and narrative relief work.

यह कितना सच है?

मिस्र के पिरामिडों से बहुत पहले, इंडोनेशिया के गुनुंग पदांग क्षेत्र में एक प्राचीन संरचना थी। अब यह वनस्पति से ढका है, अगर इसे साफ किया जाए, तो यह पिरामिड जैसी संरचना को प्रकट करेगा। नेशनल ज्योग्राफिक की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार गुनुंग पदांग में गहरी नींव वाली प्राचीन संरचनाएँ हैं।

प्रोफेसर डैनी हिलमैन नटाविदजाज की टीम ने इसके रहस्यों को उजागर करने के लिए जियोराडार, भूकंपीय टोमोग्राफी और खुदाई का इस्तेमाल किया। ऊपरी हिस्से में पत्थर के स्तंभ, दीवारें, सड़कें और खुली जगहें शामिल हैं, जबकि दूसरी परत, 3 से 10 फीट नीचे, स्तंभनुमा बेसाल्ट ब्लॉक हैं। तीसरी परत 50 फीट नीचे तक फैली हुई है, और चौथी परत में मानव हाथों से गढ़ी गई बेसाल्टिक चट्टान शामिल है।

रेडियोकार्बन डेटिंग से पता चला कि सतह के खंडहर 3,000 से 3,500 साल (1,000 ईसा पूर्व) पुराने हैं। दूसरी परत 7,500 और 8,300 साल (6,000 ईसा पूर्व) के बीच की है, जबकि तीसरी परत लगभग 9,000 साल पहले (7,000 ईसा पूर्व) की है। सबसे गहरी चौथी परत 28,000 साल पुरानी हो सकती है, जो बताती है कि ज्ञात इतिहास से बहुत पहले एक उन्नत सभ्यता अस्तित्व में थी...

किराडू मंदिर राजस्थान के बाड़मेर जिले में स्थित है। इस मंदिर का डर लोगों के भीतर इस कदर व्याप्त है कि शाम के समय इसके आस-पास कोई नहीं भटकता। वहीं रात के समय मंदिर के परिवेश के पास दूर-दूर तक कोई नहीं दिखता है। राजस्थान के इस रहस्यमयी मंदिर की स्थापत्य कला भारत की दक्षिणी शैली में बनाई गई है। अगर इस मंदिर के इतिहास की बात करें तो स्थानीय लोगों की मान्यता है कि कई साल पहले इस जगह पर एक सिद्ध साधु अपने शिष्यों के साथ आए थे। साधु एक दिन अपने शिष्यों को छोड़कर कहीं भ्रमण के लिए गए। उसी दौरान उनके एक शिष्य की तबियत बिगड़ गई। इसे देखते हुए बाकी शिष्यों ने स्थानीय लोगों से मदद मांगी, परंतु किसी ने भी उनकी मदद नहीं की। बाद में जब साधु वापिस अपने आश्रम में पहुंचे तो उन्हें इस घटना के बारे में पता चला। इससे वे क्रोधित हो उठे और सभी गांव वालों को श्राप दे दिया कि सूर्यास्त के बाद सभी गांव के लोग पत्थर बन जाएंगे। हालांकि स्थानीय लोगों की मानें तो उस बीमार शिष्य की मदद गांव की एक महिला ने की थी। इस कारण श्राप देने से पहले साधु ने कहा था कि वो सूर्यास्त होने से पहले गांव से चली जाए और पीछे मुड़कर न देखे। हालांकि उस महिला ने साधु की इस बात को गंभीर नहीं समझा और उसने पीछे मुड़कर देख लिया। इस कारण वह भी पत्थर बन गई। इसी वजह से मंदिर से कुछ दूरी पर उस महिला की मूर्ति बनी हुई है। यही एक बड़ी वजह है, जिसके चलते सूर्यास्त होने के बाद दूर दूर तक मंदिर के पास कोई नहीं जाता।
