Inspired by Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns and the wider emotional terrain of his literary universe, Amader Ghoreo Golpo Chilo is a moving Bengali theatre adaptation set against the turbulent socio-political history of Afghanistan. The play turns its gaze towards the quiet, often unheard lives of women shaped by war, faith, loss, and fragile hope. Through an intimate and poetic narrative, it reflects on the idea of home—not merely as a physical space, but as memory, longing, and an inner refuge carried through time. As cities crumble and regimes shift, resilience becomes an act of resistance, compassion a means of survival. Featuring performances by Anju Chatterjee, Aindrila Lahiri, Arka Pratim Ghosh, Saptarshi Bhattacharya, Kaushik Sengupta, Nanak Madnani, Madhumita Das Sarkar, Kaveri Paul Das, Tarashankar Das Sarkar, Ujjaini Ghosh, Anwesha Bala, Maayukh Das, and Urshiya Das, this production reimagines a globally celebrated story through a deeply empathetic Bengali lens—rooted in memory, dignity, and hope.
