EDIBLE SAND
🖐👀👃 Learning Through Touch, Sight & Smell

This week, our little explorers created and explored homemade edible sensory sand as part of our Sensory Art Program for ages 3.5–5 years.

What may look like simple play is actually a rich sensory experience.

✨ Touch – feeling soft, grainy, and crumbly textures
✨ Sight – observing colors and changes in materials
✨ Smell – exploring the aroma created during the preparation process

Sensory play helps children develop:
🌱 Fine motor skills
🌱 Sensory awareness
🌱 Concentration and focus
🌱 Creativity and confidence
🌱 Curiosity through hands-on exploration

🐾 And this is only the beginning...

This sensory sand will soon become part of our Jungle Trail adventure, where children explore footprints, textures, and storytelling through art.

💡 Want to make Edible Sensory Sand at home?

Ingredients:
• Rice flour
• Edible food colour
• Vegetable oil

Recipe:
1️⃣ Mix a few drops of food coloring with rice flour.
2️⃣ Mix thoroughly using your hands.
3️⃣ Add a small amount of vegetable oil and rub well to remove clumps.
4️⃣ Roast the mixture in a pan until dry and fragrant.
(Alternative: Bake at 300°F in 10-minute intervals.)
5️⃣ Allow it to cool completely.
6️⃣ Add a little more oil if needed to achieve a soft, sand-like texture.

Save this post for a fun sensory activity at home!
