Workshop: Cyanotype and Van Dyck Brown Printing

Come to Praxis Technē’s Bangalore studio for a rigorous and fun workshop in alternative photography. Learn two separate printing methods, Cyanotype giving a brilliant blue and Van Dyck giving a rich chocolate color on photosensitive emulsion that you make yourself and coat on paper. The workshop will cover the fundamentals as well as some advanced topics like archival processing and creative interpretation with materials.

Acquire both the artistic and the scientific foundations of alternative photography to become an independent practitioner. Experience the joy of working with your own hands, develop a unique signature and make your work stand out from the crowd.

Open to all and no prior experience necessary. All materials provided.

Film Photography Workshop : Learn the lost art of classical black and white photography.

Ever wished you could develop your own color film at home? We’ll teach you how.

Join us for an intensive two day weekend workshop at Praxis Technē’s Bangalore darkroom. You will learn the technique, contemporary practice and the history of analog color work. All of this will be presented within the background of the historical development of color as a medium of visual representation across the arts.

You will take away a new found ability to process color film at home to a high standard combined with a serious understanding of color as a medium.

Come to exciting hands on workshops at Praxis Technē's Bangalore studio in June. Learn varied topics in printmaking, alternative photography, natural dyeing of textiles and analog black and white photography.

The workshops will be taught by a practicing artist, an art historian and a neuroscientist for an interdisciplinary grounding in the medium.

Wonderful to share images from our silver gelatin printing workshop at Praxis Technē’s Bangalore studio on 2nd February 2025 where we taught participants the art of classical black and white printing, to make enlarged silver gelatin prints from film negatives in the darkroom. The joy of seeing a print emerge in the water from nowhere remains as exciting as ever.

In a single day participants printing for the first time acquired the ability to print independently in the darkroom. Great fun, much learning and energetic participants made the day.
