Why horror? - Recently, at the Prajavani Kannada Cine Sammana discussion on why audiences are not coming to theaters, I shared my thoughts on why I chose the horror genre. As indie filmmakers, we may not have the massive resources to create lavish, larger-than-life spectacles to pull in crowds, but we can make good horror. The horror genre is a true gift to indie filmmakers. It possesses the unique potential to bring audiences back to the big screen because it is, at its core, a community viewing experience

Welcome to Day 32 of the 50-Day "One Movie A Day" Challenge! 🎬🍿

Shimit Amin’s “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year” (2009) is one of the most underrated gems of Bollywood. As a filmmaker, I am amazed by how writer Jaideep Sahni and the director created an incredibly engaging, edge-of-the-seat thriller right inside a dull corporate office—without relying on typical Bollywood tropes, lip-sync songs, or massive budgets. It’s a pure masterclass in character arcs and realistic screenwriting!

Choose carefully. 😉😉

Today is a very special episode! To celebrate the release of Steven Spielberg’s brand new sci-fi movie 'Disclosure Day', I am breaking down the TOP 10 must-watch masterpieces from the legendary director himself. From inventing the summer blockbuster by hiding the shark in 'Jaws' to revolutionizing war cinematography with a 45-degree shutter angle in 'Saving Private Ryan', Spielberg is the ultimate film school for every director!

Have you watched 'Disclosure Day' yet? And what is your all-time favorite Spielberg movie? Let me know below! 👇

Welcome to Day 30 of the 50-Day "One Movie A Day" Challenge! 🎬🍿

Giuseppe Tornatore’s “Cinema Paradiso” (1988) is the ultimate love letter to the magic of movies. As a filmmaker, it is so emotional to watch the painstaking reality of highly flammable nitrate films in the old projection booths, and the sheer power of editing in that legendary climax kissing montage set to Ennio Morricone’s immortal score. This movie is exactly why we make movies!

Welcome to Day 29 of the 50-Day "One Movie A Day" Challenge! 🎬🍿

Today is a special tribute to a true visionary of Indian Cinema—the legendary Singeetham Srinivasa Rao! As a filmmaker, his ability to seamlessly blend science fiction, fantasy, silent cinema, and pure commercial drama is absolutely mind-blowing.

For Kannada audiences, he gave us all-time blockbusters with Dr. Rajkumar like Haalu Jenu, Chalisuva Modagalu, Eradu Nakshatragalu, and Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma. And who can forget the global masterpiece, the dialogue-less wonder—Pushpaka Vimana!

🚨 BIG NEWS: After a 10-year hiatus, the 94-year-old legend is returning to the director's chair with his highly anticipated musical fantasy 'Sing Geetham' (SSR61), releasing worldwide on June 11, 2026!

Watch the video to explore the cinematic brilliance of the man who revolutionized South Indian cinema. 👇

Welcome to Day 28 of the 50-Day "One Movie A Day" Challenge! 🎬🍿

Sutan Gowda’s Kannada gem “Valavaara” (2026) is a beautiful, grounded coming-of-age drama. As a filmmaker, it is incredibly inspiring to see how seamlessly the film balances the heart-pounding tension of a missing pregnant cow with the lighthearted innocence of childhood friendship—while deeply exploring sibling rivalry and the unspoken pressures of rural family dynamics in Sakleshpur!

Welcome to Day 27 of the 50-Day "One Movie A Day" Challenge! 🎬🍿

Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket” (1987) is an absolute masterpiece of psychological horror disguised as a war film. As a filmmaker, I am completely blown away by Kubrick's production design—literally recreating the Vietnam War in an abandoned London gasworks—and his rare decision to let R. Lee Ermey wildly improvise his iconic, terrifying performance as the Drill Instructor!
