Today, we celebrate the birth anniversary of Rajarajan (1964ā2025).
A South Indian modernist, Rajarajan transformed the visual vocabulary of indigenous traditions into a language that was unmistakably his own. His paintings draw from the rhythms of folk memory, craft practices, temple iconography, toys, textiles, and everyday cultural life - not as illustrations, but as a contemporary artistic vision.
Built through thousands of deliberate marks, every work reflects extraordinary patience, precision, and imagination. The familiar becomes timeless; the local becomes universal.
As custodians of his estate, Gallery G remains deeply committed to preserving, documenting, exhibiting, and introducing Rajarajanās remarkable body of work to new generations of collectors and scholars.
Today, we remember not only the artist, but the enduring visual world he created.
Happy Birthday, Rajarajan. Your colours, characters and stories continue to live on.
