Claire Iono is a French-born visual artist based in Auroville since 2010. Her practice emerges from a deeply personal and spiritual journey, blending abstraction and figuration to create ethereal, symbolic landscapes. Working with watercolour, ink, tempera and acrylic, she explores nature, movement, inner transformation and the subtle connections between different realms.

This work from Gurudas Shenoy’s Timeless Narratives series presents a layered still life infused with memory and place. Bold charcoal lines define bottles, vessels, architectural forms, chairs and plants, creating a fascinating composition. Golden yellows, ochres, terracotta and blue-grey tones generate warmth and depth. Objects become evocative fragments of lived experience, while overlapping forms suggest nostalgia, continuity, and contemplation. The absence of figures reinforces a reflective world shaped by memory.

Maisandaya, Bronze
Maisandaya, also referred to as Nandikona, is the divine spirit of a bull worshipped as a part of Bhuta Kola. It is usually revered by the agrarian communities of the Tulu land (parts of South Karnataka and North Kerala) as a gesture to thank its contribution to agriculture.

Bhuta are widely worshipped deities and spirits across South Kanara and the coastal belts of Karnataka and Kerala, often understood as deified local heroes, heroines, or the spirits of forest-dwelling wild animals.

We hosted a creative fun-filled afternoon where participants made their own linocuts under the guidance of master printmaker Venugopal V G.

From drawing the image to the quiet satisfaction of pulling a final print, each step was filled with curiosity, creativity and connection.
