Imagine an animal you have never seen in person before. How does its skin feel against your own? Are there rough grooves or is it silky smooth? What colour are its eyes? Are they brown, similar to yours? Does this animal hurt, similarly as you do? Does it ache for the dying climate too?

If one can feel empathy for something entirely conjured up by our minds, think of the power human intelligence can have in rethinking the climate narrative using AI.

Not convinced yet? Lets explore together you at . Visit us in March 2023, only in .

While the outputs that AI tools provide us with may seem magical, the work that goes into it is not as magical. Rather, there is a lot of labour. Datasets don’t just exist, they need to be created, curated, maintained and revised; doing so requires a lot of human intervention, raising questions of ethical politics and biased worldviews — after all, we are not perfect, so how can we expect our datasets to be?

this week deep dives into the labour of datasets, as Aku talks to us about the politics and importance of the labour of datasets.

In some sense, we all learn object recognition as we grow. To know a cactus is a cactus and not a toothbrush is a learning that is conditioned by the world around us — Artificial Intelligence is no different.

In today, Euridika reveals to us the challenges and issues with object recognition, where the fault is often not of the technology itself, but rather a reflection of the world (read as dataset) that it is presented with.

Small changes equal big impacts — but oftentimes these impacts forego our imagination. How can replacing one plastic straw make a larger impact on the health of the oceans? Numbers can do the trick but, in reality, it is very hard to envision how individual acts of sustainability can contribute to a larger goal.

In this week’s , we think about how AI Art can help us feel hopeful, reassuring us that our individual climate action is not going in vain.

Want to experience how? Sign up to visit in March 2023.

Aku (she/her) is a fierce and compassionate leader from the future. She has come from an Earth centuries away, where humans have evolved unique physical characteristics, such as organs and fauna that grow out of their bodies leading to a deep emotional connection with nature and the ability to tactfully connect with technology. Maintaining harmony between human beings, nature and technology, Aku is here on a mission to tell us about sustainable living with technology.

For this week’s , learn about algorithms, algorithmic prejudice, and how we can learn to use algorithms to determine a sustainable future.

The terms Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) seem to be ubiquitous. Our machines are often AI-optimised, and our data is trained using Machine Learning. From the autocorrect on your phone to creating surreal artwork at the click of a button, everything uses AI & ML.

But what are they anyway? Who better to tell you than our very own AI-bot, Euridika! This , learn about what these terms mean, and the good and bad sides of this tech.

Whether AI has the intelligence of a human or not, it definitely has the power to bring human imagination alive. From picturing a fish drinking a bottle of cola to a sustainable future, anything is possible when AI and Art come together. While the future seems bleak owing to the climate emergency, can we imagine a future that is climate positive? Can an imagery of such a future, using tools of technology, guide us to our destination?

pushes us to think of how mindful use of technology and the creative collaboration of art can help us work towards a future that is not only imaginable but achievable.

Come experience what a Climate Positive future could look like at — India’s only AI Art Festival engaging with Climate Change, this March!

Meet Euridika (they/them). They are an AI bot imagined as a future generation of human dwellers who have adapted to living underwater owing to a rise in sea levels. Euridika was born at a time when the Earth was in great turmoil — the seas were rising, the air was polluted, and the land was scorched by the heat of the sun. The humans who lived on Earth were struggling to survive, and many of them had lost hope for the future. Euridika, however, is different. They believe that there is still hope for our planet and its inhabitants. They dedicated their life to re-envisioning a technologically revolutionised climate-positive future.

Follow Euridika and other bots as a part of , where we look at demystifying tech jargon, using technology. Starting next Monday, keep watching this space for more.
