With deep sadness, we share that Rashme Hegde Gopi, the founder of Shankaraa, passed away on April 19, 2026.

She was the heart and force behind Shankaraa, a space she built with conviction and care, shaped by her lifelong commitment to the arts. A fearless spirit, gifted artist, spiritual soul, and inspiring visionary, she touched countless lives through her grace, devotion, and unwavering love for art and culture.

Though she is no longer with us, her presence lives on in every life she touched. The sanctuary she created will continue to inspire and nurture generations to come.

We are deeply grateful for the love, support and prayers extended during this time.

Rudraksha is a space set against a canvas of thriving greenery, imaginatively transformed to showcase the art and culture of rustic India.
Our stage offers a versatile setting for classical performances, folk theatre, and concerts. It is equally suited to host Vedic ceremonies such as marriages, Shasti Poorthi, Upanayanas, and more. Rudraksha also plays host to numerous workshops on wellness, spirituality, sustainability, etc.
At Rudraksha, every event unfolds amidst nature’s grace, where each moment comes together to create a truly memorable experience. DM us for details.

On World Theatre Day, we look back at some of the unforgettable performances that have graced Damru — the proscenium for the arts at Shankaraa.
From powerful dramas to experimental productions, Damru has been a space where actors, storytellers, and audiences come together to experience the magic of live theatre.
Each performance leaves behind something intangible — a shared moment between stage and audience that can never quite be replicated.
Today we celebrate theatre, the artists who bring it to life, and the stage that continues to hold these stories.

A new Panchanga begins, marking the start of a new year. A season that marks our auspicious days, we invite you to celebrate, learn and create with us at Shankaraa.
Looking back on this past year, our hearts are full. We are deeply grateful for the vibrant community that has gathered with us — the artists, art lovers, and seekers who make Shankaraa come alive. As we move forward, we hope for many more opportunities to come together and celebrate art and culture.
Happy Yugadi to you and your loved ones!

This Women’s Day, we celebrate Rashme Hegde Gopi not only for the titles she holds, but for the ecosystems she has shaped.
Through her work as a performer and choreographer, she has carried Indian classical arts across borders and audiences.
Yet perhaps her most enduring contribution lies in cultural leadership — in building a space where artistic expression is nurtured consistently and with integrity.
Shankaraa Foundation is a space where all forms of creative expression are nurtured, supported in a meaningful way, promoted and celebrated.
Leadership in the arts is rarely loud. It is steady, disciplined, and sustained.
Today, we celebrate her journey — and the many women whose vision quietly shapes the cultural spaces we inhabit.
Happy Women’s Day.

Sharing moments from the Candlelight Concert held on February 28 at Shankaraa.

On this evening, our open-air amphitheatre, Bhoomandala, became the backdrop to melodies that stirred the heart. Music drifted through the still night air, while the warm glow of candlelight and the serene open-air setting came together to create a truly unforgettable experience.

Our sincere thanks to the artists and the entire team who made the evening possible, and to everyone who joined us and filled the space with warmth and presence. We’re grateful for the community that continues to gather with us.

On 28 February, Candlelight concert invites you to experience music in its purest, most evocative form. Nestled within the serene space of Shankaraa Foundation, and surrounded by the warm glow of candles and the quiet elegance of a cultural sanctuary, let melodies speak where words fall silent.
Live instrumental performances by K J Dileep, Ila Dileep, Vishak, and Abhishek revisit the timeless works of A.R. Rahman and R.D. Burman — best experienced slowly, by candlelight.
If you’re looking for something thoughtful, memorable, and a little magical, this might be it.
