We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Vid Dr. B N Ramesh, an accomplished senior Mridangam artist and Gaanakala Suvarna awardee, for donating his Mridangam to Shankaraa Foundation.

Vid Dr. B N Ramesh’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Having performed his first concert at just eight years old alongside his brother, the flute prodigy B N Suresh, he has since accompanied numerous senior musicians and performed at prestigious music sabhas, national platforms, and international conferences.

This sacred instrument will find a vibrant home here at Shankaraa Foundation inspiring generations to come. Thank you, Vid. B N Ramesh, for your generosity and for your continued support to the foundation.

Today, we fondly remember our founder, Smt. Rashme Hegde Gopi, a visionary whose life touched countless hearts through her unwavering devotion to art, culture, and creative expression.

Inspired from the patronage extended to the arts by the visionary industrialist Sri B.T. Shankar Hegde, she built Shankaraa Foundation, a space where all forms of creative expression are nurtured, preserved, and celebrated, a safe haven for artists, art lovers, and all those who cherish our rich cultural heritage.

On her birthday, we celebrate not only her extraordinary journey, but also the light, beauty, and purpose she brought into the lives of so many.

With deep gratitude, we honour a life devoted to the arts, culture, and creation, and celebrate a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

Vid. Rajashree Holla is a stunning Kuchipudi dancer known for her graceful movements, immaculate footwork, and revelling abhinaya. She received training under several eminent gurus, including Vedantham Ramalinga Shastry and Vedantham Parthasarathi of Vijayawada, Guru Smt. Dharani Kashyap, and Guru Dr. Veena Murthy Vijay of Bengaluru.

She had her Rangapravesham in Vijayawada in 1990 and has since performed extensively across India and abroad at several prestigious festivals and cultural platforms, including Abhinava Utsav, Kuchipudi Village Utsav, the KHAJURAHO Dance Festival, and many more.

She has completed her Vidwat in Kuchipudi from the Karnataka Secondary Education Board and a Master of Performing Arts from Siddhendra Kalapeetam (Kuchipudi Village) and she secured double gold medals at Pottisreeramulu Telugu University. She is also a member of the International Dance Council (CID) and is empanelled with S**C MACAY for workshop demonstartions.
Her accomplishments include winning the Gopinath Das Nyasa (Prabhat) Competition, along with receiving several honours from reputed cultural institutions and organizations.

For over 15 years, she has been nurturing students in Kuchipudi. Under her guidance, students have performed at major festivals across the country, completed Rangapraveshas and dance degrees with distinction, secured university ranks, and earned recognition in national and international competitions.

Vid. Supriya Shivarudrappa is a promising and passionate performing artiste and teacher. She is an ardent disciple of the legendary Bharatanatya maestro, SNA awardee Guru Dr. Radha Sridhar, under whom she has trained for over 25 years. She secured a distinction in Vidwath and is a gold medalist in Master of Arts (Bharatanatyam) from Jain University.

She’s a graded artiste of Bengaluru Doordarshan and a proud recipient of the prestigious HRD Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, India. She has bagged the rolling shield in National level Dance competition in memory of the doyen Sri Gopinath Das Nyasa.

Supriya has toured the United States of America and Qatar as a performing artiste for her alma mater, Venkatesha Natya Mandir, and has also gained recognition as a soloist all over India. Some of her notable accomplishments include: Conferment of the titles "Nritya Shiromani" at the 6th Cuttack Mahotsava (2015) and "Nritya Bharati" at the Nritya Bharata Festival (2015).

She now has over a decade's experience imparting the skills and nuances of Bharatanatyam to numerous aspirants.

With deep sadness, we share that Rashme Hegde Gopi, the founder of Shankaraa, passed away on April 19, 2026.

She was the heart and force behind Shankaraa, a space she built with conviction and care, shaped by her lifelong commitment to the arts. A fearless spirit, gifted artist, spiritual soul, and inspiring visionary, she touched countless lives through her grace, devotion, and unwavering love for art and culture.

Though she is no longer with us, her presence lives on in every life she touched. The sanctuary she created will continue to inspire and nurture generations to come.

We are deeply grateful for the love, support and prayers extended during this time.
