‘Under the Mangosteen Tree’ returns to Ranga Shankara, Bengaluru, one last time! Ever since it’s premiere in 2008, this play has been our attempt to share the magic of Basheer’s writing with people, and it’s longevity is a tribute to the fact that audiences everywhere have overwhelmed us with their love. It feels sad to be staging this play for the last time, but we are sure that its memories will always be a part of us. ಶಿರಾ ಸೀಮೆಯ ಬೇವಿನಹಳ್ಳಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಅರೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಾದಸ್ವರ ಕಲಾವಿದರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಲೆ, ಬದುಕು ಮತ್ತು ಅನುಭವಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿ ರೂಪಿಸಿರುವ ಅಪೂರ್ವ ನಾಟಕೀಯ ಪ್ರಯೋಗವೇ ‘ರುಮುರುಮುರುಮು’.
ನಟಿ, ಬರಹಗಾರ್ತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕಿ ಶ್ರದ್ದಾ ರಾಜ್ ಅವರು ತಿಂಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಬೇವಿನಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಿದ್ದು, ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಜೀವನಾನುಭವಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬೆರೆತು ಈ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ತಳ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಜೊತೆಗಿನ ಒಡನಾಟವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಚಳುವಳಿಯಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬೇವಿನಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ‘ಜಿಗುರು’ ತಂಡ, ಈ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ವಿವಿಧ ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದೆ.

ರುಮುರುಮುರುಮು

ಅರೆ ನುಡಿಸುವ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಒಂದು ಕಥೆ. ತುಮಕೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಶಿರ ಸೀಮೆಯ ಬೇವಿನಹಳ್ಳಿ ಅರೆ ಕಲಾವಿದರು ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ . ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ವಾಸ್ತವನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿ ಈ ನಾಟಕವು ಸಮಕಾಲೀನ ದೃಶ್ಯಾವಳಿಯನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
2012 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅರೆ ಕಲಾವಿದರಾದ ರವಿ ಅವರ ಸಾವಿನ ನಂತರ ನ್ಯಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಡೆದ ಅರೆ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯ ಹೋರಾಟವನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು.
ರುಮುರುಮುರುಮು ನಾಟಕ ಜೀವಂತ ದನಿಯ ಆಳ ಅಗಲವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ದನಿ ಈ ಶಬ್ದದ , ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಪದಗಳಿಗೂ ಮೀರಿದ್ದು!

Rumurumurumu is a devised piece on the sonic ancestry of Arai. It also looks into the
mythology that the Arai (instrument) playing community carries with it, along with the Arai artists from Sira. It takes the mythology of the subaltern, mixes it with reality and presents a contemporary adaptation of reality. Rumurumurumu also briefly addresses the arai procession that followed the death an arai artist Ravi(2012). Rumurumurumu delves into the lived reality that the sound itself carries with it, realities that are beyond even words.
