Hi everyone,
We wanted to let you know that after some internal discussion, we at Presence @ Play have made the decision to put our mindfulness and improv workshop on indefinite hiatus. The 3 of us have been had an amazing year teaching and organizing this group, and it just feels like the right thing at this time to go on pause and make room in our lives for some of the new growth experiences that await us and to process the changes we’ve all been going through, not just during the pandemic, but over the long period of time that we’ve all been together.
It would be difficult to overstate the level of gratitude that we feel toward this community for joining us and helping us to create a space that has felt so kind, so joyful, and so welcoming to so many people from such diverse backgrounds. We know that it can be difficult to ‘find your people’ in a city as vast and fast-paced as New York, but we always felt at home among the members of this group and we hope that we have been able to provide a space that has given you the same feeling.
We also hope that you feel a sense of pride in the bravery that you have displayed in coming into a room full of strangers and being vulnerable and silly and a little crazy during our workshops. Not everyone has the courage to do that, and you should be proud of yourselves for entering into that world.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your role creating this community. It has truly been a group effort and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with all of you and to share this positive experience.
Moving forward we’d like to keep the page active, and will be looking to share other opportunities for members of the group to deepen their improv and/or mindfulness practice. And we invite you to contribute resources that you’d like to share if you have any. We also are not ruling out the possibility of resuming our workshops at such a time as feels appropriate.
Finally, we’d like to let you know that we do have some surplus funds from when we were meeting in person and accepting donations to pay for the studio space. We’re going to be donating to The Food Bank for New York City in order to help the many needy people in our community put food on the table during the current economic crisis.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us by facebook message or email if you have any questions or comments.
With Love and Gratitude,
Andrew, Kat, and Kunal
