We joined .against.genocide weeks long sit-in protest in front of the Parliament building and created “Dreams for Gaza; Three Public Acts” to amplify their efforts for Palestinian liberation. With local Greek performers and international artists coming from the UK, South Africa and Iceland, we unfolded a massive Palestinian flag in the middle of Athens’ main shopping street, Ermou, and called out chants from The Living Theatre and our own, “From Tijuana to Athina, Free Free Palestina”, as bystanders rushed to join us carrying the flag all the way to Syntagma Square. Once there, we performed a series of tableaux images slowly climbing the steps to the parliament building encampment where we met with sound artists from NettNett and . We heard recorded messages from members of in Jenin and presented texts from Gaza Monologues, Revolution’s Promise from the Freedom Theatre and poems from Palestinian writers entwined with ensemble movement. Today marks the 50th day of the invasion of Jenin, Palestine. The large scale ground assault by Israeli forces, part of the Iron Wall operation, has forcibly displaced thousands and executed residents of Jenin in the West Bank. Citizen journalists from have been bravely documenting the attack from the inside. Appearing in the wilds of New York City are posters with the words from the MayDay series by a theater performer who lives in Jenin refugee camp, in the hopes that Jenin and its beautiful inhabitants will not be forgotten.

On the day after Trump’s inauguration, just after the ceasefire agreement, Israel began a massive military attack called The Iron Wall on Jenin and the West Bank of Palestine. Thousands of people have been forcibly displaced, unable to bring their belongings with them. The Jenin refugee camp is a ghost town with 90 percent of its population displaced. Israel has bombed residential areas and killed at least 25 people, including children. Al Límite Collective was fortunate to spend time in Jenin weeks before the genocide began, leading workshops and creating with The Freedom Theatre, and got to enjoy the beauty of the city of Jenin and its generous friendly people. We are devastated by the daily horrors our friends are undergoing there and we stand defiantly in solidarity with them.
We took action in New York City with multiple street blockades in front of corporations that profit from the genocide of Palestinian people. We unfurled our banner saying, Justice for Jenin; End the Siege, passed out fliers, chanted and mic checked at Bank of America headquarters, NASDAQ in Time’s Square, Chase Bank headquarters, CitiBank, Lockheed Martin’s Corporate Office, and AIPAC the pro-Israel lobby group. Do not forget about Jenin and the dreams of its people.
Quote from Actor, Photographer and Youth Associate of Artists on the Frontline, “ Why do we have to see this scene in every raid? Why do people have to evacuate their homes and flee amidst fire and death? Oh world you let us down. Our lives turned upside down in an instant. We are not a disease to be got rid of. This is the killing of innocent humans- lives suddenly taken, by a raid, bullets and bombing. We cannot move forward, we do not plan, we do not think, because the intrustion may end everything that was planned!”
Join the March on Wednesday 6pm at Bryant Park steps for the West Bank. We will bring our banner. Follow and to amplify and support voices of artist journalists on the ground.

Weeks before protests erupted in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, and during the worst air pollution in history, participated in Ajoka Theatre's International Dosti Festival celebrating their 40th anniversary!

In a packed 10 days we joined a reading of the Gaza Monologues with local luminaries, watched lush performances from Pakistan, India, Spain, Indonesia, spoke on panels and interviews, all while conducting intensive rehearsals each day with a group of 18 courageous young women and non binary folks from local universities and towns teaching a full production of Signals.

Signals is an ongoing feminist project, based on global mythologies and uprisings of women that began as a collaboration in Jenin, Palestine with The Freedom Theatre and has since evolved with communities in Mexico, Pakistan and Greece.

made huge efforts to ensure our safety as we prepared a risky production which addressed issues of femicide, domestic violence, sexual assault, political prisoners; issues women in Pakistan have been killed for addressing in the past.  And yet we still had a full house of hundreds of audience members cheering on the show, especially the new scene created by participants, and they even stood up with us to pledge their solidarity with women’s rights.

Next we made the long journey to Austria to lead a workshop called the Listening Body at , a cultural center in the heart of a migrant neighborhood in Vienna.  The workshop brought 50 international participants who moved through a series of exercises in deep listening, building soundscape, and somatic explorations.

We only had a brief visit in Vienna before our workshop in Athens, Greece.

With the support of and we offered a Signals theater workshop intensive and discussion series for local Greek women which culminated in a series of street performance interventions based on the poetry of Joyce Mansour.
We return to Greece for the full production!

Register for for this special Living Theatre workshop by ! This Thursday !

Our workshop series is an invitation for participants to dive into the creation process with the Al Límite Collective members. We will bring in devising exercises co-created and co-led by the company. As the core members of Al Límite met in The Living Theatre, we take inspiration from the famous workshop model called A Day in The Life of The City, which was developed by Hanon Reznikov and Judith Malina in 1990. We have been leading these workshops across North and South America and Europe for the past decade. We begin with rigorous physical and vocal explorations, encouraging the participants to get into a fully embodied practice following their impulses and instincts. We draw on our collective experience with such movement practices as Butoh, Grotowski, Linklaeter, Meyerhold. The work is intrinsically tied to and driven towards social justice and liberation.

It’s been an amazing first few days in Lahore, Pakistan! We were so grateful to be invited to teach and perform at 40th Anniversary Dosti International Theatre Festival!
We have been working with 18 local Pakistani women students and performers on the latest iteration of Signals. It has been such an honor to be in dialogue with these young women, pushing the boundaries of collective creation and building trust within this unique process. We hold close all the stories shared so far and we look forward to performing on November 16th at 6:00pm at the Alhamra Arts Center!
We have been graced by international as well as beautiful, traditional Pakistani dance and theatre performances daily. We were really thankful to be a part of Ajoka’s reading of the Gaza Monologues alongside prominent Pakistani leaders in the arts in solidarity with Palestine and a symbol of the cultural resistance practiced around the world.

Al Límite

Al Límite, meaning “To the limit” in Spanish, is a treatise of the body’s revolt. The Collective is a collection of multi-disciplinary artists centering their work around current cultural and political phenomenons who are heavily informed by their collaboration with The Living Theatre, the oldest experimental theatre company. Their projects involve participatory theatre, direct action live performance, community organizing, performance and action workshops, and creative collaborations with The People. Between 2016-2019, they toured with The Living Theatre and were heavily involved in the creation of their original experimental production, Electric Awakening, which premiered in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2016. Since then, Electric Awakening was workshopped and performed with local artists in Mexico City and Tijuana, Mexico. The work has also been used as a tool for programs which support refugee communities around the globe, including on the Mexico/US border and in Athens, Greece. Embracing this spirit, they continue to offer workshops, healing retreats, theatrical performances, action trainings, media projects, publications and curriculum around the world, and now experiments in virtual performance.
