PLAYGROUND
a theatre workshop for adults about the importance of play

Humans are designed to play throughout our lives - it’s a process of Nature within us, making us as youthful, flexible and adaptable a species as we are. But as we grow older, we find fewer opportunities to exercise this fundamental need. This workshop is for grown-ups who want to play (again).

Through a variety of theatre games and exercises that engage the body and the imagination, the workshop is a space to experience the joy of Play as an end in itself. To explore the range and depth of physical play in our grown-up bodies, and reflect mindfully on our experiences (and personalities) as players. To goof around with great intention and, in the process, to discover the usefulness (and risks) of approaching our experiences playfully and with curiosity.

This workshop is facilitated by Bikram Ghosh. All are welcome!

ADVENTURES IN MOTION
a dance workshop for adults about understanding your own ways of moving

This workshop is for anyone who is interested in this most fundamental aspect of dance: movement. Looking at both natural and artistic movement, sessions will focus on exploring the body through a variety of motions, actions and gestures.

The workshop will first focus on learning to trust one’s own body: to find balance in movement, to shift, to hop and move. We will then consider what it means to string movement together: to move first and then reflect on the experience of chaining physical sensations. Through watching both oneself and others, we will develop a deeper understanding of observing movement in dance. We will learn to expand on our own abilities to attend to rhythms, both out in Nature and in the room. To use those rhythms to make imaginative leaps, and in the process, learn something about our bodies and their various behaviours.

This workshop is facilitated by Nakula Somana. The work will include stretching, and exercises from both physical theatre and contemporary dance. All are welcome!

*Welcome to Dirty Pig Theatre Lab*

The Dirty Pig Theatre Lab is: an independent workspace exploring theatre as a technology for investigating consciousness, embodied experience, and community.

The Lab operates as both gymnasium and study, where rigorous inquiry occurs alongside practical performance-making. We approach theatre as a precise tool for organizing attention and creating conditions for transformation. Our work examines how rhythm, color, spatial arrangement, and movement measurably affect human awareness.

This is independent theatre—work that exists outside commercial and academic institutions. We are sustained by craft, depth of understanding, and the relationships we build with participants and community.

Follow along as we share our research, process, and discoveries in conscious theatre-making. 🤟🐷
