A new Steam Revenue Report from Totally Human Media’s We Love It platform analyzed around 100,000 Steam games to examine how different genres perform commercially.

According to the report, sandbox games stand out as Steam’s most consistently successful genre, recording both a high median estimated revenue and a strong hit rate. Around 27.4% of sandbox games reached at least $100,000 in estimated lifetime revenue.

Visual novels, simulation games, RPGs, horror and point-and-click games also recorded strong median revenues.

FPS games performed particularly well among the highest-earning titles.

Platformers ranked toward the lower end of overall revenue performance.

Xbox appears to be changing how it promotes its multiplatform games, with recent trailers no longer mentioning PS5 versions on official Xbox channels.

The change follows Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s comments earlier this year, when she admitted that including PS5 branding in Xbox Showcase trailers was a “miss” and said the company would adjust its approach.

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is one of the clearest examples so far. Its latest Xbox trailer only lists Xbox Series X|S and PC, while another version uploaded by IGN mentions PS5, Steam, Switch, and Switch 2.

A recent Fable teaser also avoids mentioning platforms entirely.

Square Enix has revealed a massive soundtrack for Final Fantasy Resonance, the upcoming HD-2D RPG based on the former mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The Final Fantasy Resonance Original Soundtrack will release on October 28, one week after the game, featuring 120 tracks across four CDs.
