The prestigious Raj Aangan Colony/NRI Colony was conceived by Honorable Chief Minister Sh. Ashok Gehlot and promoted for NRIs/NRRs in International Rajasthani Conclave at Jaipur in 2000; a promise of sprawling bungalows with modern, comfortable living and amenities/facilities like state of the art clubhouse, theatre, bank, shopping arcade, multipurpose restaurant, along with highly secure (together with a peripheral boundary wall) gated community was made to rope in the prospective NRI/NRR buyers, at the time, which in turn prompted many eminent people like RANA (Rajasthan Association of North America)/AAPI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) members and others to purchase bungalows in the NRI Colony.
Sadly, as of today, the promises remain a dream on various fronts:
• Repeated delays in delivery on commitments. Even after 22 long years, despite paying all due sums of money for the homes and associated facilities/amenities, RHB has yet to deliver them to the colony home owners. All NRI Colony home owners and members feel misled with the over commitments and under delivery by RHB and its officials. Simply put, even as of today, the NRI Colony remains incomplete to its basic original plan!
• False & dubious promises? The handing over of the Colony report from RHB categorically stated that all these amenities and facilities will be developed in due course of time and handed over to the colony home owners – this was again promised while handing over the colony to the Raj Aangan Society in 2012 and in subsequent meetings at various levels in government, including Chief Secretary of Rajasthan and Principal Secretary UDH. Now even after 10 years of handing over the colony, yet again, the aforementioned promises not fulfilled, and that unfortunately is tantamount to cheating home owners. Further, what’s worst is RHB’s attempt of luring unsuspecting buyers with a proposal of NRI Sky-Park Luxury Apartments, which is being done by RHB, knowingly on land area that is considered part of NRI Colony and thereby, its an attempt to change the original character of the colony. This is completely unacceptable to the rightful owners of the Raj Aangan/NRI Colony. Clearly, it is apparent that RHB and its officials want to continue on their disingenuous path of having mislead buyers in the past and the same moving forward with this new proposal. If RHB is evidentially incapable of delivering on their promises even after taking due payments and extended periods of time, what hope does any potential buyer have for their any new proposed projects’ completion?
• Abuse of power? RHB officials, time and again over the course of last two decades since the inception of NRI Colony, used their authority to illegally and forcefully grab the vacant land of NRI Colony. As a matter of fact, previous effort by RHB to auction the Pratap Nagar, Sector 24/D-Block land & construct multi storied apartments, was also put on hold via stay order by the NRI Colony Society at the time.
Given the passage of 20+ years - it is high time that these miss and inactions by RHB and their attempts to change the original character, which are intolerable to the residents of Raj Aangan/NRI Colony - all efforts, including legal proceedings to the extent of the law, shall be done by the Raj Aangan Society members. All NRI Colony home owners are aggravated on these wrongful actions by RHB and asked for a meeting with Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
This contentious matter, if not rectified promptly on a priority basis, will always be considered as betrayal of the Chief Minister to all NRIs/NRRs.
