Inner Demons:
Sometimes, when we look at someone, we don't realise the story they have, the burdens they bear and the baggage they carry. It's difficult to identify the truth behind their smiles or the authenticity of their "I'm okay". We live in a day and age where everyone has been through some trials in their life. However big or small, everyone has had their fair share of fears, troubles, pain, hurt and anxiety. Some are comfortable opening up and sharing, asking for help. But not all can talk about their inner most fears and anxieties. Not everyone is okay being vulnerable. The biggest fear being, someone shrugging off their feelings or not relating to their pain. But I feel if we were to look closely, we will be able to identify with them. After all, we have our own inner demons too.
Personally, I fall into the category of people who'd rather keep quiet that blurt it all out. So I understand when people say they find it difficult to talk or confide in someone. I understand when people wish to address their issues in their own way. Be it shutting down, crying out into the pillow or indulging in some mind calming activities. When it comes to what we feel, there is no one right way or path of doing things. Every path is okay as long as it works for you! Every feeling is ok - even the "bad" ones. Every demon is ok. After all, our inner demons are also a part of us. They stem from a place in our lives that has deeply impacted us.
At the risk of sounding too preachy, what I have observed is that we are all similar. In a sense that we all have bad days and lows in our lives. What matters is trying to look for the light at the end of the tunnel. That way, we know that this darkness is not permanent. That these lows aren't constant. And that these demons won't last forever.
