The Journey
Machaan theatre company is a brainchild of theatre-loving youngsters from Ahmedabad, who aim at creating and performing on freshly brewed content. Machaan has amazing set of performers and content creators starting from writers, actors and developers. Enthusiasm is more important than vision, and their enthusiasm turned into passion.
Their tryst with theatre and stage went public, when they staged their first ever production in a form of short play titled ‘Dhun’ in March 2017. Appreciated by senior theatre persons in Ahmedabad, they soon started working on a full-fledged production. And by the end of May 2017, they again came back on stage with a 90 minutes of production - titled ‘Resurgence – A series of short plays’, which bagged them immense love and appreciation from their seniors.
By this time, theatre stage had become a very endearing platform for all these young lads and ladies. Hence, they decided to stay connected with the art of performing. After a break of 3 months they staged their marquee production titled “GAUR FARMAIYE” and rest is the history. A show widely loved by people and received well by critics too, became the priced creation for them.
Later they made another play on the topic of Friendship, titled “NOT A PAHELi” whcih premiered at Lutalica’s Flashover.
The latest production LINE - a satirical play on education system of India, is on a roll. Again felicitated by standing ovation this witty play has announced loud and clear that Machaan is here to stay.
Coming from a diverse career background, these youngsters follow their work commitments during the day and then gather-up in the nights to follow their passion for performing arts. And this is not the only ‘standout feature’ of the Machan-ists. Their fervor to brew new content and transform it into a theatre production makes them one-of-its-kind theatre group in the city.
As they say, the story has just begun. With their growing passion for performing arts, their productions are also growing exceptionally. Soon, they’re coming with something ever bigger and intense. Wait for it!
