JIJIVISHA CLUB EDITION 25

What is JIJIVISHA?

A club for poetry and storytelling. It was started in 2020 by Akshat Drama Group. The intention is to seek meaning and soak in the depth of words recited with a hot cup of tea. The content can be both self-written and written by other poets and authors.

Both listeners and speakers are welcome.

TO PROMOTE THE HERITAGE AND CULTURE OF INDIA:-

We encourage attending persons to find and bring poems written by esteemed but less known or forgotten Indian poets from the history of this country to recite and share with all.

RULES

We do not permit any content degrading a woman in any role or any gender in the name of humour sarcasm or love.
We do not permit any content disrespecting the constitution of India or intentionally hurting the religious sentiments of any person.
No member poaching. This group is not a platform for sales and marketing of any other organization.
Any person found trying to find personal information about a member shall be removed and banned permanently.
Due to limited seating we do not have the concept of bringing a friend.
Every attending person has to respect the present performers and stay for the complete duration of the edition.

Khartal Workshop By kartaalistic

Join us for an immersive khartal workshop—an exploration into the rhythmic world of this traditional Indian percussion instrument. Over three enriching days participants will dive into the art of playing the khartal.

Day-1
- Introduction to the instrument
- ⁠Introduction to basic rhythm patterns
- ⁠Basic techniques of holding and playing kartaal
Day-2
- Practicing kartaal on a simple rhythm pattern
- ⁠Introducing and practicing new patterns A little detailed understanding of the beats and rhythm patterns to practice
- ⁠Introducing a simple song to practice kartaal on and creating patterns over it

- Practicing and understanding advance rhythm patterns on the song

Theatre Workshop by Akshat Drama Group

In this comprehensive level 1 (Beginner level), 1 month sessions of Theatre acting
the participants will explore techniques to start their journey as creative and
imaginative performers. The process of these sessions will lead to a crafted
approach to the art of performance.

Month 1

Week 1
Radiating
- Visualization of energy among performers on stage and how the performer
can elevate the energy.

Week 2
The Mind-Body connection
- Understanding the fundamentals of Psycho-physical Acting.

Week 3
Body and Emotion
- In depth study of how response of the performer’s body can further the
impact of emotion.

Week 4
Body and Imagination
- Practical exploration of gestures and Postures through imagination and it’s
implications on Semiotics of theatre.

HandBuilt Pottery Workshop

TERRACOTTA

They say that each clay article is a piece of someone's life. They even say it has its own small voice and sings in its own way.

A series of 4 short sessions followed by a display of the artworks created during the sessions. In this guests will be introduced to basic techniques to work with terracotta. This includes the life-cycle of clay from its making to firing. Clay and clay-products have different characteristics at each stage. Your time at the studio would be about experiencing these closely with context to your own artworks and more.

1) Handbuilt Pottery

During this session we’ll see how a lump of clay can be transformed to beautiful pot only with the use of hands

Building pots without the help of a potter’s wheel can be both- restrictive and freeing from its limits. This technique brings one closest to clay.

2) Coiled Pottery

During this session we’ll see how fine clay coils can be turned into fascinating shapes. These can further be molded into 3-dimensional forms. This technique teaches one patience and precision.

3) Tiles

Malleability of clay gives us the liberty to make flat tiles out of it. Here we will create beautiful designs on these tiles by either adding or carving on the tiles. These can later be hung on the wall as decorative art pieces.

4) Shifting Forms

Clay is a very obedient material. It can take any form that we give. In this session we will learn to make flat tiles of clay. These will eventually turn into interesting vases mugs or anything that you can imagine.

Be prepared to get your hands dirty but to keep your space neat.

Bring an apron to avoid staining your clothes.

Oh days like these I think that I’ve got to start reading like a maniac, just to read all the books I heard people reading and describing in the club.

And the next day, I get sucked into the blackhole that is life, again, waiting to come out the white hole, into a new universe, where there will be books and readers like me, a universe of Pocket Diary Book Club.
