Two decades of relentless growth.

From 1991 to 2018, Rang Bahar didn’t slow down. World Theatre Day celebrations. Productions from Shantiniketan, Jabalpur, and beyond. Every year, a new milestone. Every year, a wider reach.

What started in one city had become a national institution. Established. Credible. Always growing.

This was the foundation. Everything that came next was built on it.

1990. The festival opened its doors wider than ever.

Jai Shankar Sundari Janma Shatabdi Mahotsav celebrations continued in 1990, opening the stage wider than ever before. 🎭

From Ak Hato Manas, Hu Koi No Nahi and Ame Ahinthi Nahi Jae to Insaf Ka Ghera, Malvikagnimitra and Khagras, the festival brought together college theatre groups and renowned institutions from across India.

A year when every language, every region and every artist found a place on one stage.

1990 — when theatre truly belonged to everyone.

This was the year theatre stopped belonging to the few and started belonging to everyone.
