*বই মানুষকে অন্ধকার থেকে আলোর দিকে নিয়ে যেতে সাহায্য করে: মুখ্যমন্ত্রী*
আগরতলা: মুখ্যমন্ত্রী প্রফেসর ডাঃ মানিক সাহা আজ বলেছেন যে জীবনে কোন শর্টকাট নেই এবং প্রত্যেককে প্রতিদিন পড়তে হবে। আর এটাই সবকিছু অর্জন করার একমাত্র উপায়।
তিনি আরও বলেন, বই হচ্ছে এমন একটি সেতু যা শারীরিক ও মানসিক গঠনের ব্যবধান দূর করে, অজানাকে জানতে সাহায্য করে এবং জ্ঞানের দিকে নিয়ে যায়।
আজ বিকেলে হাঁপানিয়া আন্তর্জাতিক মেলা প্রাঙ্গণে তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দপ্তরের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত ৪৪তম আগরতলা বইমেলার উদ্বোধন করে একথা বলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী প্রফেসর ডাঃ মানিক সাহা। উল্লেখ্য, এবারের বইমেলার থিম বন্দেমাতরম।
উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ডাঃ সাহা বলেন, কলম তরোয়ালের চাইতেও শক্তিশালী। প্রতিদিন আমরা একটি পৃষ্ঠা তৈরি করছি। আমাদের অবশ্যই স্কুলের পাঠ্যবইয়ের বাইরেও বই পড়তে হবে। আমাদের মস্তিষ্ক সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী লাইব্রেরি। সেখানে কোন শর্টকাট নেই। আমাদের প্রতিদিন পড়তে হবে এবং এটাই সবকিছু অর্জনের একমাত্র উপায়। আমাদের শিশুদের বই পড়তে উৎসাহিত করতে হবে, যাতে তাদের শব্দভাণ্ডার শক্তিশালী হয়, তাদের লেখার উন্নতি হয় এবং তাদের চিন্তাভাবনা ও চেতনা প্রসারিত হতে পারে। আমরা যত বেশি পড়ি, ততই আমাদের জন্য ভালো। এমন কোনো বিষয় নেই যার উপর মানুষ লিখতে পারে না।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ডাঃ সাহা আরো বলেন, সবাইকে লেখার চর্চা চালিয়ে যেতে হবে, যা পরবর্তী সময়ে বইতে পরিণত করা যায়। তিনি বলেন, আগরতলা বইমেলা ভারত ও বিশ্ব জুড়ে স্বীকৃত। আগে বাংলাদেশ থেকেও অনেক মানুষ এখানে আসতেন, কিন্তু বর্তমান পরিস্থিতির কারণে তারা আসছেন না। অনুমান করা হচ্ছে যে এবারের বই বিক্রি গত বছরের রেকর্ড ছাড়িয়ে যাবে। আমরা বইমেলার তারিখ এবং সময়ের মধ্যে সামঞ্জস্য করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি। কারণ ছাত্রছাত্রীরা পরীক্ষা এবং পড়াশুনায় ব্যস্ত থাকে। বই হচ্ছে একটি সেতু, যা শারীরিক ও মানসিক গঠনের ব্যবধান পূরণ করে, অজানাকে জানতে সাহায্য করে এবং জ্ঞানের দিকে নিয়ে যায় আমাদের। বই মানুষকে অন্ধকার থেকে আলোর দিকে নিয়ে যেতে এবং সত্য খুঁজে পেতে সাহায্য করে।
উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, এর আগে অনুষ্ঠানের সময় বই উপহার দেওয়া হয়, এই প্রথা বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে। তাই আমাদের অবশ্যই এই ঐতিহ্যকে নতুনভাবে পুনরুজ্জীবিত করতে হবে। একটি বই কখনই মানুষের সাথে বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করবে না। একজনের উচিত বই পড়ার জন্য একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময় ব্যয় করা এবং এটাকে অভ্যাস করা উচিত। প্রতিটি দিক মাথায় রেখে, আমরা এখানে হাপানিয়া আন্তর্জাতিক মেলা প্রাঙ্গণে বইমেলা করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি।
অনুষ্ঠানে বিশিষ্ট অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ত্রিপুরা বিধানসভার উপাধ্যক্ষ রাম প্রসাদ পাল, বিধায়ক মিনা রানী সরকার, আগরতলা পুর নিগমের মেয়র তথা বিধায়ক দীপক মজুমদার, তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দপ্তরের সচিব পি কে চক্রবর্তী, অধিকর্তা বিম্বিসার ভট্টাচার্য, ত্রিপুরা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন উপাচার্য, পদ্মশ্রী অধ্যাপক অরুণোদয় সাহা সহ অন্যান্য বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিগণ।

Books help people move from darkness to light: CM
Agartala: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that there is no shortcut in life and everyone must read every day; this is the only way to achieve everything.
He also said that a book is a bridge that fulfills the gap between physical and mental structure, helps to know the unknown, and leads to knowledge.
Dr. Saha said this after inaugurating the 44th Agartala Book Fair at the International Fair Ground in Hapania today.
He mentioned that this year’s book fair theme is Vandemataram.
“Pen is mightier than the sword. Every day we are creating a page. We must read books beyond school textbooks. Our brain is the most powerful library. There is no shortcut. We must read every day, and this is the only way to achieve everything. Our children must be encouraged to read books so that their vocabulary will be strong, their writing can improve, and their thoughts and consciousness can expand. The more we read, the better it is for us. There is no topic on which people cannot write,” said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha also said that everyone must continue practicing writing, which can later be turned into a book.
“Agartala Book Fair is recognized across India and the world. Earlier, many people used to come here from Bangladesh, but due to the current situation, they are not coming. It is anticipated that this year’s book sales will surpass last year’s record. We have decided to adjust the dates and timings of the book fair because students are busy with exams and studies, so that footfall will increase. A book is a bridge that fulfills the gap between physical and mental structure, helps to know the unknown, and leads to knowledge. Books also help people move from darkness to light and find the truth,” said Dr. Saha.
He added that earlier, books were gifted during programs, but this practice had stopped.
“We must revive this tradition in a new way. A book will never betray people. One should dedicate a particular time to reading books and make it a habit. Keeping every aspect in mind, we have decided to hold the book fair here at the International Fair Ground in Hapania,” he said.
During the event, Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, MLA and Mayor Dipak Majumder, Secretary PK Chakraborty, Director of ICA Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Former Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, Padma Shri Professor Arunoday Saha, and others were present.
