“... מתן כבר הפנים את הדקונסטרוקציה וכעת הוא כאמור מפשפש בחורבות הציביליזציה ללא שום יומרה לחפור אמת כלשהי מהקבר, אלא רק בניסיון לחלץ שיירים של מוזרות, פליאה, קסם ויופי מקרבי תהום ענקית ומבעיתה של אי־ידיעה. את שפורק אין להרכיב – למעט ההתפעמות האנושית עצמה, הכי קרוב לנצח שנשאר. במבחן התוצאה הבסיסי ביותר – העבודות שבתערוכה – מתן מצליח להגיע לשם”

MARK YASHAEV | Now on view at the 7th Jerusalem Biennale in the exhibition "Or Chozer (Reflected Light): An Active Vision", curated by Porat Salomon and David Sperber, through November 12, 2026.

"Or Chozer" places contemporary practices in dialogue with Mordecai Ardon’s monumental "Ardon’s Windows", exploring the sustained effort required of a prophetic gaze. Where Ardon’s windows evoke Isaiah’s utopian vision of turning swords into plowshares, Yashaev’s paper collage presents an architectural Jerusalem suspended between gateway, temple, and ruin.

Through layered paper, arches, and reflective elements, Yashaev echoes Ardon’s symbolic vocabulary while constructing a fragile, fragmented utopia built from cultural remnants and historical echoes, positioning Jerusalem as a contested site of memory, longing, and imagination.
