It is my nickname, and what everyone calls me. This humorous name suits the nature of the figures and the mobiles I create out of polymer clay. It all started when I was studying graphic design. I took a class in 3D design, which led me to experiment with this magnificent material – polymer clay. That was the moment I realized that this is what I love to do. Four years later, after finishing schoo
l, I moved to Tel-Aviv. I really wanted to do what I love the most: selling my figurines, but I had many concerns. People told me I needed a “real job” and that I won’t be able to make a living from my passion. I listened to them and began working in one studio after another but no place felt right to me. A few years after working in the graphic design field, I decided to follow my heart and do what makes me happiest – sculpting figurines. I had the opportunity to present my work at Nachlat Binyamin arts and crafts fair – a beautiful and colorful market where artists of all kinds can sell their wares. I really enjoyed making my art and seeing my clients’ reactions to my work, but on-line selling was more suitable for me and gave me the peace of mind I needed to create and develop my products. My first products were figures; caricatures of people and celebrities. The second were 3D polymer clay illustrations that I used in presentations for children and were also picked up by the Israeli children’s channel. In the past few years, most of my friends became parents! This inspired a new idea for my figurines: mobiles for babies and children’s rooms. Slowly this new idea evolved and I was selling my products by word of mouth. When I saw how people loved and bought my figures I decided to open a store on Etsy. So until I have children of my own I create humor, joy, and color filled mobiles for other mothers. I get most of my inspiration from the street and spend hours and hours in my studio, in Tel-Aviv: an inspiring, colorful and vivid city. I also find inspiration in fairytales and children books, but most of my ideas are plainly from my own imagination, from the characters in my mind. As I mentioned, I use Polymer clay and attach the figures to a colorful wooden base using a very strong wax string rope or fishing line. I try to sculpt my figures with as many details as possible; the more, the better! In my opinion, the small details are what make the figurines come alive! There is nothing that makes me happier then creating my art. All my figures and mobiles are 100% handmade and are created with a lot of love. AND HAVE A TAUTAU DAY!
