Every year Stephen West hosts a mystery knit along that thousands of knitters worldwide participate in. I have been participating in the MKAL since 2015, with a couple of exceptions along the way. Shawlography was the 2021 MKAL. It was knit in 5 colors. Be honest, do you block every single FO?
I used to be a โ€œIโ€™ll do it laterโ€ knitter.
Spoiler: later took a while. Now I canโ€™t finish something without immediately thinking about the blocking mats.
This week Iโ€™m blocking the Petalism shawl by Naama Ido aka Hasargaknit. Two color brioche, cables, and six shades of Holst Garn Coast. The before and after is not subtle.

This is the Petalism shawl by Naama Ido, and after every stitch marker, every cable row, and following this pattern like it was sacred text, watching her open up on the blocking mats made it all worth it.
Two-color brioche worked flat, with cables running through it. If you know brioche, you know. If you donโ€™t, letโ€™s just say this one sat in my finished-objects pile for a while before it made it to the blocking mats.
Knit in Holst Garn Coast in the colors Rosewood, Mushroom, and Cassis for the warm side, Asparagus, Thyme, and Army for the cool side. A full fade, two worlds meeting in the middle.

This week Petalism is on the blocking mats. A super intricate brioche shawl (shanklet) with so much detail.
