They opened a new sushi place nearby,
On each table- they had placed a tiny box of used crayons.
About five tables were already seated when we arrived. All adults. All completely ignoring the crayons.

Feeling creative- I grabbed a blue crayon and began scrabbling on the back of my paper cloth.

“Very nice!” the owner told me-
“It is a very cute Panda!”

And that was the first time in my life that a waiter came over with a bill, and handed it straight to my girlfriend.

Thank you all for the heartwarming messages!
It feels so surreal being back where we started 12 years ago-
No permanent studio, no supply chain, no go-to shipping company…
I’m not even sure our website really works.

But that is exactly why I’m excited to do this again-
If anyone wants something from us, we can do this old-school:
Message us, call us, mail us- and if you’re in Canada, just knock on our door (don't really).

We actually just wrapped our first handmade custom order in years, and the nostalgia vibes are hitting the roof.

Again- we’re endlessly grateful to everyone who’s been with us on this journey which began 12 years ago.

and... who's next?

How long has it been? Two years? Three?
Well, we hope you’ve missed us as much as we’ve missed you.

For a while there, we felt like we’d said all we needed to say.
I mean- how many pairs of shoes does the world really need?

But with everything that's been happening lately
(yes, I’m talking about AI), in the art world especially,
something changed-

we felt a calling again.
However-
This time it’s not about fashion, I never really cared for that aspect of our studio.
This time it’s not about becoming well-known,
It’s not about getting recognition, and it is not even about the art.

It’s about pulling our eyes off the screens and facing each other.
It’s about getting our squeaky-clean hands off the phones
and grabbing a box of paints.
It’s about doing what was almost taken from us-

The freedom to create, together- with nothing but our
yet-to-be-dissolved brains.

So yeah... we’re back.
Who wants a shoe?

אורי זלוטניק (33) והדס פוקסברונר (27) הם בני הזוג שעומד מאחורי "לאטו ולארה"- מותג ייחודי המפגיש בין עולם האופנה לבין עולם סוריאליסטי של ציורים ופיסולים מקוריים. בין שלל הפריטים המעוצבים שיוצאים מהסטודיו, אין להכחיש שאת המופע המרכזי נותנות הנעליים שהזוג מעצב- בין קירות החנות תמצאו נעל עם זנב שהפכה לעכבר, נעל צהובה שמפוסלת כמונית, נעל המשמשת כמגש המבורגרים ולנוסטלגיות מביניכן- נעל בסנגון פין-אפ עם בנדנה מנוקדת שתזרוק אתכן הישר אל ימי הזוהר של שנות ה50. איך הכל נוצר? זה מתחיל בעיצוב הנעל, הדגמים המקוריים של "לאטו ולארה" מעוצבים מראש ע"י אורי והדס, נבנים ונתפרים במפעל בארץ וכשהם חוזרים לסטודיו, הם הופכים לחומר ביד היוצר- שם מתחיל סיעור מוחין והעלאת רעיונות באשר למה אפשר לעשות עם הדגמים- מה אפשר לעשות עם העקב? מה אפשר לתלות ממנו/לתפור אליו/לצייר עליו שעדיין לא נעשה? איזה יצור מזכירה הנעל, לאיזה אירוע היא תתאים, מה ישאיר אנשים פעורי פה? מה ידהים ומה יזעזע? ככל שהעיצוב יעורר יותר תגובות- כך יותר טוב. אחרי שנסגרים על הרעיון- מגיע השלב של העבודה- יחדיו הם מציירים, גוזרים, תופרים וצובעים כל זוג בעבודת יד עד שלבסוף נוצר זוג אחד מוגמר, זוג נעליים שעוצב בדייקנות כך שלמרות כל האמנות שמסביב- אינו חוצה את הקו הדק שבין טירוף לאלגנטיות ולסקסיות שצריכה, לטעמם- להישאר טמונה בכל זוג. אגב, מאחר וההשראה המקורית של הזוג הגיעה דווקא מעולם האמנות- עולם בו (לרוב) האמן מייצר רק אחת מכל עבודה- גם ב"לאטו ולארה" יש רק אחד מכל פריט, אז אם אהבת זוג מסויים- כדאי לך לקוות שהוא גם במידה שלך (למרות שאם ממש תתעקשי, הם גם יבנו לך במיוחד). הסטודיו של הזוג נמצא ברחוב ויצמן 84 בכפר סבא, תמצוא אותם גם בעמוד בפייסבוק ובאינסטגרם תחת השם Latto Velara.
