The Virtual Orchestra for Palestine (PALVO) is a new initiative to foster musical production in and out of Palestine in the spirit of solidarity and cooperation. The project seeks to support musical production that is accessible and open to everyone, regardless of nationality, and therefore also not costly, enabling it to be produced with limited budgets. The project is a direct response to the ch
allenges facing Palestinian artists, who are dispersed across the world and often unable to travel whilst also finding it increasingly difficult to obtain funding that does not compromise their artistic and political autonomy. In the face of these challenges Palvo aims to help Palestinian musicians to work together, regardless of where they live, in Palestine and elsewhere, and to provide opportunities for other musicians from across the world to collaborate with them. Through music, the initiative thereby seeks to provide a platform for solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation, independence and the right of return. Because Palestinian musicians often work in difficult circumstances, lacking sufficient institutional support and outlets for their work, the Palvo initiative seeks to make possible musical production that does not necessarily entail the customary succession of rehearsals culminating in a performance held before an audience in a performance venue. Rather, we seek to help musicians to free themselves from the constraints of both time and place, enabling them to prepare sessions and rehearsals as their time and circumstances allow, and helping them record music from anywhere in the world. We aim for this support to be available to performers and producers with different kinds of experience, whether amateurs or professionals, helping them draw on and develop their individual training and skills, regardless of where they find themselves in their career. We seek by such means to build a creative forum for musicians, technicians and artists, where they will be able to meet, explore and collaborate together and make music that can reach the world, irrespective of national borders and political censorship. It is the intention of both parties to develop it into an independent freestanding project that can be sustained over many years to come.
الأوركسترا الافتراضية من أجل فلسطين هي مشروع ثقافي جديد يضع التعاون والتضامن في صلب عملية الإنتاج الموسيقي. يقوم هذا المشروع على عملية إنتاج موسيقي أكثر حريةً واقتصاداً، ويجيء استجابة للتحديات التي يواجهها الواقع الثقافي الفلسطيني المترامي على جغرافيات سياسية متعددة، ولا سيما في ظل انحسار التمويل المستقل وغير المشروط، وفي ظل القيود المفروضة على حركة الفلسطينيين ما يؤثر على قدرتهم على الالتقاء والعمل سوياً.
إن من شأن هذه المشروع أن يمكّن الموسيقيين الفلسطينين في أماكن مختلفة من فلسطين وحول العالم من العمل سوياً والتعاون في إنتاج أعمال موسيقية جديدة، كما يفتح المجال لأي موسيقي حول العالم للمشاركة في مثل هذه الإنتاجات، حيث أن الأوركسترا الافتراضية من أجل فلسطين، وكما يشي اسمها، ستكون منبراً أيضاً للتضامن من خلال الموسيقي مع الشعب الفلسطيني في نضاله المستمر من أجل تحقيق آماله الوطنية في الحرية والاستقلال والعودة وتقرير المصير.
لا تقدم عملية الإنتاج من خلال هذه المنصة بديلاً للطرائق التقليدية للإنتاج الموسيقي والتي تبدأ بالتمرينات وتنتهي بالعرض أمام الجمهور في قاعات العرض والفضاءات المختلفة. ولكن في ظل عدم دوام توفر الظروف المناسبة للإنتاج الموسيقي، بادرنا إلى إيجاد هذه المنصة كأحد الحلول البديلة التي لها ميزتها الهامة من حيث كونها مستقلة تماماً عن عنصر المكان والوقت والمستوى. يستطيع الموسيقي سواء كان مبتدأ أو متوسط المستوى أو متقدماً ، أن يدير وقته ويعيد تمارينه كما يريد، ويسجل مقطوعته في أي مكان يناسبه، حتى أنه يستطيع أن يختار الأجزاء المناسبة لقدراته ومهاراته الموسيقية.
تقدم هذه المنصة مسرحاً إضافياً ومتاحاً لفعل كل عدد كبير من الموسيقيين والتقنيين والفنينين الذي يجتمعون كل من مكانة ومقدرته لإنتاج أعمال تستطيع أن تصل العالم دون أي حواجز أو حدود. هذا المشروع بمبادرة من الموسيقي بشارة الخل، وبدعم وشراكة مؤسسة عبد المحسن القطان، حيث يطمح الطرفان إلى رعاية هذا المشروع وإسناده، ومن ثم إطلاقه كمبادرة مستقلة مستقبلاً
